Design a Logo for IT and win!

I am pleased to announce that Inner Traveler is looking for a new logo, and it's up to YOU to come up with a design to promote Inner Traveler to the world in some way. It can either be an animated gif/Flash animation, OR a stationary logo, the choice is yours. Anyone can enter, and feel free to submit one of each if you so desire and as many entries as you have ideas - the more the merrier!

Prizes will be awards for the winners. First prize $100, Second prize $50, Third prize $25. :exclaim: The closing date will be the end of September which gives everyone two months to come up with ideas.

The animation should be no longer than 10 seconds, and the logo and should be readable at a small scale. Any submission deemed objectionable or offensive will be disallowed.

I feel like there should be more rules, but I can't think of any at the moment, so let's get to it and start those creative juices drooling!

Addendum with regards to size: The standard web banner size is 468x60 pixels. However, for the purposes of the contest I don't want to strictly limit people to that, so I'm allowing that a submission could be shorter in width, but not smaller in height than that. At this stage I'll say the maximum height should be no more that 200 pixels, and no wider than 600 pixels. You can submit a logo that is bigger than that, but bear in mind it will be scaled down in order to be usable on a web site, and so must be readable at the smaller size.

I would suggest that the forth logo be altered slightly to make it more readable, the T isn't very clear. I really like the maze effect you did with the third one, and I'd like to see how it might look at a smaller scale and see if the details still show up. The first two are nicely simple, one a sort of old style, the other a more tech look, either of which could work :D

Where do you submit the logo's? In the animation gallery if it's animated? And if it's not animated, where should it be uploaded to?

For now I'd say, upload it to the Animation Context Gallery for now, it should be right at the bottom of the list of galleries.

Okay, I did make an animated banner using ULead Cool 3D, but when I uploaded it, I realized it wasn't really wide enough to make a good banner, so I deleted that one for now until I can refine it to fit the right size, anyway, here's entry number two, which I uploaded in the animations contest gallery anyway:

Hello Rumour,
After I've uploaded a couple entries for the logo contest I see there are two distinctly different sizes, the original uploaded size 600-wide 200high
and a much smaller one beside it, is the smaller banner the average size its expected to be? Would this smaller sized banner most likely be the final overall
banner size?
PS I'm seeing people using MS word for this, and as dumb as this may sound I have word perfect 10 office suite can that be used for logos?
Duh!? Its the only word proccessor I have that I hate,LOL! :D

If your original one is 600x200, then that is the one that will be used. Anything smaller than that is still acceptable, perhaps it could be a banner link that people could use on their sites to link to IT, but that would be up to admin to decide if this is what he'd like to do, it may be decided to use some of the runner ups as web link banners also.

The size width is to account for those people who have their screens set to 800x600 (sounds crazy I know, but there are some people that need it that size) and to leave room in case there needs to be something on the other side of it, and the height is to ensure that it's not going to take up half the page and people have to scroll down to actually view the site. If a person wanted to make it 100x60, I see no reason not to do that so long as it clearly displays your Inner Traveler logo.

As for using MS Word or WP, either is fine, though I have very little experience with WP. If it can do what Word can do, then go to it, but unfortunately I can't help you out there.

I have noticed that I may have inadvertinately started something that may be disallowed for the contest.
Is there anything wrong with adding something like myself and another artist has to the logo other than INNERTRAVELER?
My logo says:INNERTRAVELER and in smaller print "the journey starts here"
Would this disqualify me or the other artist?

I take it you're asking whether having 'The journey starts here' or some other such caption with your logo would disqualify you? If that's the question, then no, it wouldn't, since it's your logo and the caption relates to IT as a site.

However, if more than one person has used your caption, or if you use another person's caption and not gained permission from the original artist, it's considered plaguarism, and the submission would have to be disqualified.

Ok you've cleared up the issue for me, uh now do I have to go around the gallery trying to find out if someone else used the exact phrase before I did?
There IS a way to track this isn't there?

Unfortunately the only way to track it is to see what date the logo was uploaded. If you're using a caption with your logo, it might be a good idea to check out the gallery first and see if it's been used before.
