Whether you use Apophysis or Fractal Explorer, Ulta Fractal, FFF. Ktaza and so many others how about sharing your tips and tricks . Maybe listing any scripts you may use and where to get them. etc

Also how you get certain effects with the program you use

Lets make this thread fun... news things in the works everyone:) :ta-da:  :ta-da: :w00t:

I'll start it off by saying I enjoy the original apophysis Flames which come with each version, mostly I enjoy jellyfish....cosmic is not one of my favorites I guess when I make a flame I like to see details and those are done with taking certain triangles and almost closing them you can make other designs with them even if they are almost close example: if you pull it slighting it will give you lines depending on how much you pull it will depend on what size you want..... A lot is simply trial and error.... but if you like detail try taking 2 of them on top and bottom make them small and you will se which ones will make the details. then work your flame in the middle. not always do I succeed but it is finding what you like to make. the smaller the triangle the finer it will be.

Yep that is the way they set up the newer versions kind of pain in the butt , just another thing to live with with apo and with so many working on it no telling what the new version coming out soon will do.. Also it uses random gradients another thing I'm not fond of.

are you using i or z the z version has some good things about but I still perfer i I just do not care much for the grid lines in z the only way to save that batch your working on is to save random batch file using the script for it...... just go to the top scripts click on open and browse to it and save it. it should prompt you to save it I just date mine so I know which is which

Hope that helps there isn't much choice with the way they have it set up

also you can go into options and change your batch size... should be under the first general tab size of batch.

Like me I only have 5 rendering in any batch and my number of triangles I use is min of 2 max of 5 or 10 depends on what feel like working on.

OK, Questions.

1. How do others render their flames?

Do you export flame as a high quality jpeg?
Do you use the Render facility and work from there, and if so, in which format do you save your render?
Do you render inside another program, such as UF?

2. Oh another question is, does the jpeg quality inside Apophysis (see Carolyn's screen print showing jpeg quality at 80) affect the jpeg quality of the rendered flame on export?

I just thought it would be interesting to know how other people do this..

I've always rendered as a png file. That way I can resave as a jpg if need be or use the flame for something else without the background.

I don't know what is going on but I keep getting a message I am 10 characters to short in posting an answer to Anna.....grrrrrrrrrrr

Most render flame 3 or some like me to disk. I don't bother with flame 3 I have no need for it. It is basically for those who want to render 3300x3300

It may say jpeg but I do not render jpeg only high quality to disk.png

Yes you can take the upr into UF but there are settings you'll have change to be sure you do get your gradients that you had in Apo...other wise you will loose the colors. I don't use UF can't afford it so I stay with a straight render to disk

I hear there are a lot of new changes to the new version expected out

This is just a snip from an e-mail from the Apo mailing list

Before anybody asks when. Version 'i' will stop working the 23th of
October. So that is the final date for the next version.

Ronald

So please expect the i version to no longer work once the new one is released. well unless you turn you computer clock back... I doubt seriously if many of us want to do this...
