Hi,

I don't know if this posting is on the right place here, but I think it could be. Today I have started a new work and I will show the wips here to demonstrate the changing of a painting into a fotorealistic artwork. I followed the workflow demonstrated by Dylan Cole in his third Gnomon DVD 'advanced matte painting', but everything I have done was to learn a lesson and do it on my way.

Here is the sketch, the first draw after about 2 hours using Photoshop.

please tell me if you like this thread - I don't wanna bore you!

Oh WOW! Yes please! This is exactly the sort of thing that would be good to have in this forum, particularly of interest to me in any case, so I'm sure it will be to others.. You may or may not know that I'm extremely interested in matte painting too!

Did you have a plate for reference, if so, I wonder if it's possible for us to see that - although you might want to show that once you've done the process?

Thank you so much for starting this thread, Robert. :bounce:

Hi Robert, I'm sure it's great, but it's such a small picture that it's not really possible to see what you've done, except that it looks good. Also, the first picture has gone so we have no comparison?

WOW!!!! What have I been missing whilst I have been away - this is simply astounding work!! I am totally awed by the work in this - the vegetation on the rock face at the front left of this image had me staring at it for ages - it is stunning, as are the palm trees, and, in fact, everything in the image!!!! http://smilies.sofrayt.com/fsc/bow.gif

Robert_S

... not a sunset because it was enough work to do. I have worked over the shadows including cloud shadows and distant mist... look at the palms in the foreground or the mountains in the back... you'll see.

Thank you SO much for all your hard work in sharing this wonderful creation with us, and I'm proud to have it in our Mixed Medium Forum now! I guess the next step for me is to get that darned DVD!!! As I keep saying, where's da money coming from!!! :ohmygosh: The other sad part about this is that it's for Photoshop, and I don't know the program well enough to be able to use it for anything as yet!

Click HERE (http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/) to find the source of this DVD, and also the source of Robert's picture - in fact I can't help wondering if it isn't Robert's picture that's being used on that site they are so very similar! Mind-blowing!
