I've just been playing around with this during the afternoon and I really think I could work with this program. (Miracles will never cease, lol! :imslow: )

However, are there any good resources and plugins to go with this program? I'm sure there must be and I'm just not seeing them! Sorry if that's the case! lol! (I get fatigued literally to the point of not seeing or assimilating anything I'm looking at!)

Also, I wondered if the fully licensed version gives better chances for all of that sort of thing, or whether I can do what is needed inside the free version?

Awww terragen is rather easy once you figure it out!!

Couple hints... you can download terrains, mats for skys, mats for terrains etc.. On the two boxes that open or if you click on the little land icon you will see on the box a place that says open.. If you want to change the texture or sky just click that.. browse your files and select a new sky or mat.. :) Also you can modify terrains etc. I'll check for some tutorials and post them. Or maybe I'll just do one of my insanely simple easy to follow tutorials :D In the meantime.. Play with terragen, I think you will pick it up fast! :)

There is a whole lot of links to plugins and other resources in the TG pages:

http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/resources.shtml

Also, you can find a sticky thread on this forum about tutorials, too! ;)
There are a few more hints on the "uncle rev terragen hints" thread, which I will update soon.
Last, there are not many differences concerning plugins and other things you can use between unreg and registered version, you can even load big terrains on the unreg version (while you cannot generate them, so you must do them with an external program, or download them). The difference is in the final resolution, mostly, and in a few options about image quality (which are moderately useful, in terms of image quality).
Good work!

Thanks you two.. Rev, I knew I had seen a url for the resources, but darned if I was able to get back to it last night! Thanks so much for that.

And I will keep a look out for all the tuts (all so time consuming on top of the other things, if you know what I mean, lol!)

Anna you asked if there was a difference between the free and registered Terragen I can only say what I have personally experienced and the answer is yes there is mainly in the area of the size of the terrain or tgw or Dem

Dem(form of saving a tgw) tgw being the main souce of the image in most cases you do have to save your surface and lighting seperately. I know I save mine in all cases just incase something doesn't come back in the way I wanted it too.

At this point yes Terragen is free but if you get it registered when the new one does come out if I understand it correctly that registration fee would be applied towards to completed version.. which someone said and don't quote me but I think in the line of $150 usa dollars. but not sure on what it will be
so don't quote me on the price thing.. I just don't know Rev may have heard more

See Terragen is not like Apo, it will at some point not be a free programs.
Which is why we encourage people to try the free one if you like it then get the registration so when the final version comes out you will already have 1 foot in the door, plus I would assume and don't quote me again that planetside may contact those who are registered when the new one does come out. the final version... (darn there I go again not explaining it correctly) sorry guys I've got to get rest. But I do hope that does help you Anna......
