Pleeeeeease.. No pressure intended to post anywhere but where you want to, BUT....
Time and again, I have noticed over the last weeks, since the inception of the MM gallery, that people who use Mixed Medium continue to post in their User Personal Galleries, except towards the end of the week, when they suddenly start putting their pictures into the MM gallery. Then once the showcase image is announced, this reversion takes place once more! (Last Saturday/Sunday I had 8 or 9 new images uploaded into there, but today? So far only mine! Well I'm not going to showcase my own pictures, lol!!!)
What's happening is that some wonderful pictures are passing by that could not therefore be taken into consideration for the next showcasing!
My intention is to try and cover as many artforms and styles as possible over the weeks and months ahead, usually also picking out different artists each time, although that may not necessarily be the case if something particularly stands out as impassable. Now that does not mean that if your image wasn't chosen, it was anything less than one of the best. I use different criteria each time, but always with the intention of encouraging and highlighting things that I feel are worthy of being highlighted and showcased.
I may - I have not decided yet, but may - even announce a Mixed Medium Image of the Month, not necessarily taken from the showcased images! (This will not depend on the artist, but on the merits of an image in its own right, regardless of what that artist normally produces.)
I am trying not to show any prejudice or favouritism in all of this too. This is one of the main policies of IT, and one of the main reasons I came across here too!
Just food for thought... Do please consider carefully where you decide you'd like your images to go.. I am constantly on the look out for that "something special"! :spotlight
