Suggestions for a better forum?

Sometimes I ask myself "how can I improve this forum, what are the things that may interest people, what do they want to know about Terragen...?" and other questions like these.
This is my request, a "let me know", for anyone who may have any ideas on how to improve this forum!

Awww Rev!!! You're doing just fine! A forum cannot improve unless people from outside come to it and want to take part, as we already know, so the best we can do is to give helpful hints and tricks wherever we can, answer any questions that come up, and then wait for others to come along with their questions. It's the questions that get asked that help steer us in the direction that will be the most helpful.

The only problem I have with that is, if I have a question it's probably been answered already, but I don't get the time to read through everything to find out, and as I think it may already be answered, I hesitate to ask in the first place!

Maybe then, a place to ask specific questions - well you have that in a sense - or we just open a new string and ask our question, and then if you know it's already answered, you can point us to it. If it isn't already answered, then you get to work, lol!!!

I think we sometimes get a bit hung up on whether or not our particular "thing" is working, and that's either an expectation imposed on us by others, or a supposed expectation we put upon ourselves. All this does is cause us unnecessary anxiety!

When I can get myself sufficiently intact again, I will see if I can find out that link for the other thread. I'll also be asking some questions about TG for sure........ Now I'm off for a lie down to nurse my migraine... :meditate:

Rev your doing a fine job here I don't think there is much more you can do accept start show casing an image per week like most others that have followed my idea . I think that alone will get people to stop by the forum.
You can also run a poll and ask questions as in how long has people been using Terragen the free version or registered one. ummm maybe settings do they make there own terrains?? what do they think about 4.43 and don't ask me lol........ more tutorials and I know you can get this..get Rids or someone else to sponsor a challenge. with say one of his TGW's and maybe he can toss in a small gift could be Dorothea also maybe able to get her to toss in a cd of her stuff. you know the one she has for sale.

gosh. there are a lot of people who do have sites and galleries I'll bet some will be willing to help out in a challenge it may even bring new people in to IT

Yes your a good Moderator I think we just need a good man around to kind of keep all these woman straight. and I am no insulting you either. I know if your here as much as you can be you will more then likely find more men coming into the TG forum. so here ya go for now..... also if you do get someone to sponsor a challenge let them be the ones to judge we did that with a poser challenge...... was alot of fun to do...

I think if you posted some ex. files to use . I think CL is saying the same thing .

That might get more people to post pic . Its hard to get people to post . They see some pic. an expert made and think theirs is not good enough .

You might want to use an ex. file for the next challenge .

I see that the same people post - not many new people in any forum.

But Rev that is another thing and he did make a good point when we see your creation or example of a challenge frankly I came close to not entering way to good for most of us here. Most of us are simply beginners and use Terragen as a second or even third program.

Another suggestion I believe big H stated make a TGW or just a terrain file that can be used by all of us. including unregistered users , have that along with a theme for a challenge to see who can get the best results. However I make my terrains out of my fractals using Terra Former 2 Dorothea gave me the link to it and frankly doubt it I have it still

There are all sorts of things you can try I think alot depends on how much time you have. However if you don't try then you never know what it could have been.
But the decision is yours.

If ya'll need some files either atmospheres or surfaces ones, if someone can host for downloading I can give you ones I've done. :) Not that mine are as good as rids or lol dotthy but heck I started with nothing... So... :) and if everyone shares' their questions either Rev or someone who knows can answer :)))))

And you're doing fine Rev, Fine arts is nothing but challenges LOL... can't come up with anyone who does hand art that has questions... sniffles...

The smartest idea could be really hosting files, or giving terrains, etc away (I doubt we can get any sponsor, at this time, we do need a more developed community, but if anyone is of different advice, or has anyone to address a request to...).
I have lots of TG files made by myself, which I could upload as a price, or for free...but, how do we host files? Anyone that has a personal site where we could put them? Anyone has asked IT if we can do anything similar on this site?
Just to know....

And, thanks to everyone. I know I am doing a few good things, but I'll try and improve in the future! :heart:

Oh, Carolyn, don't be scared by my images! I know I am quite good at it, but there are many of you that show real skills (with or without much practice) at Terragen (your skies are impressive, as an example!), and those who will take the time will surpass my images by far, in the future!!!

Hey Rev I know your resources for anyone to sponsor a challenge is as bad as Fractals since most of the programs are free who in the world would I even ask. Nope I think right now the only ones that can get sponsors is in Poser.


I know I have tons of them also even save all my rays I use in my atmo's

I used to have a tut on how I made my rays, but gosh at this point I don't dare try any tut for them for one I got my new glasses today and its like feeling my way around the key board what a huge differences doc said its going to take awhile to get used to them. oh well if you hear a scream its just me.....lol


Other thing you can do with your terrains, surf, atmos tgw etc is upload them to the free section here and list a link in this forum I think that also would work. .

But my offer still stands for anyone willing to share just send them to me.
