Rev, are you going to have a terragen gallery opened up so we can start to upload into there and get some decent critiques/help with what we're doing?
I think one of the best ways to learn is to submit stuff for assessment and advice...

Thanks for having reminded me. I was replying to your PM, yesterday, but I was distracted by other matters at work.
But, isn't there on IT any dedicated gallery (leaving challenges apart) to any particular program? There isn't a Poser gallery or a Bryce gallery, am I wrong? Thus I doubt that our chief mods would agree on giving us a TG gallery. And I think this is mostly because then a lot of people using a single program wouldn't come to the main or other more general gallery and see the works.
I'll PM Angela to come and give a comment on this, anyway, OK?
(At least we do have a Landscape, a Nature, an Atmosphere/mood galleries for works like Terragen's...)

Revenant is correct - The site owner did not want program specific Galleries - if you are uploading Terragen then there is a Landscape Gallery - And yes - I believe the reason Rev gave for that is correct. The challenge galleries on the other hand, were created to be specific due to the needs for keeping the relevant images in one place and not scattered all over the main galleries which would have made the judging a damn near impossible task :floating: .

Nicky: and get some decent critiques/help with what we're doing? You can always do what rev suggested a while ago and post in the terragen forum with a link to the image if you are worried that people won't find the image to give you the critique/help that you are looking for. Bearing in mind that "negative" comments are not really encouraged in the galleries.
I think one of the best ways to learn is to submit stuff for assessment and advice...
You can of course always post an image to the forum to ask for help or whatever as the image is progressing, you can then get advice on improving whatever it is you are trying to improve, or help with whatever it is you are trying to achieve :work:
Hope this answers your questions?

Surely it answers mine, thanks!
And, I will prepare a thread where people can put links to some of their images for whom they are in search of help/critique. I hope people understands that it ISN'T a way of advertising one's images!

Thanks for the replies. Read and understood! And nope, definitely not attention seeking (though some people wouldn't see it that way you can bet!)

Could you also post a smaller version of the image in a thread? I like to see what is being asked about, and my slow connection doesn't always allow a look at the gallery. (which is the main reason I don't comment a lot, even though I'd love to). Anyway, just my two cents......

I know some of the forums are limited in size or it maybe site wide not sure in Fractals it is limited to 100kb so if you wanted to upload one for critiquing I'd thing an 800x600 would be in the size range 600x800 for sure. For me Terragen is just for fun. I just don't have the time to get into it really indepth. So like most programs everyone else will get better and I'll be just as I am , which is okay..... :blowkiss:
