You can get it here (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=127736)
Also T. will be hosting a copy of it on her site and will be listing the link soon
sometimes sourceforge can get very busy. Get it From T's site here (http://www.woosie.net/apophysis/apophysis203a.zip)
this should be a complete new version so you may want to do an uninstall and a fresh install, there is no reason you still can't have 2.02 version in as well which can be gotton here (http://www.apophysis.org/downloads.html)
Also new flame version for rendering faster flames SS203a.SCRhere (http://osdn.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/apophysis/FlameSS203a.SCR)
Try to stay with the new version as we all can learn more .
if you have already worked with it please leave your comments about it
Hugs Carolyn and thanks T for letting me know and I took the liberty of also combining your link to here. may want to explain more about SS203a.SCR
You know me I render to disk..
Hope that was okay
Many thanks to all. :worship:

Hay CL you going to use the new one ????
I use the new one - seem to be Z warm over - didn't see any thing new -couple new variation ( didn't care for them ) - think the random pic from Z were better .
Just my first look .
What do you think - any body ?
If it is a lot like the z version I may myself revert back to 2.02
Thanks for letting us know Henry, and see I was told it would not be like the Z version if it is then I may move on to another fractal program....because I have never liked how the editor in z is because I can not tweak any flame with it....just to sloppy to me..
Thanks for your input. much appreciated.
okay I'm off to bed :auto:

Good question Lou Ann what version are you currently using.
if it is 2.02i it is no longer working
if it is 2.02 yes it is still available, however this one has a lot more features to it.
I have also asked T. or anyone who has used both to explain more on the new version I myself have not installed it yet so at this time I can not explain it so everyone can understand the difference. what I really enjoy on these ones over 2.02 you can twist to turn it and to center it without messing with the window sliders. Sooooooo much more easier and convient.
I haven't even had the chance to work with it yet and I know Sass and T have. So hopefully one of them will contribute that information until I can work with it..
Hope that helps if not we'll have to wait till I can get it installed.
********* To T or Sass or anyone who has V2.03a please post a screen shot of it.... so everyone can see what it looks like ********Thanks****************************

Thanks Henry for the screen shot now those not using the newer versions on the top across line to th eleft will see a zoom in and a zoom out also a hand that is used when moving a flame in where you want it to be. the half circle is turning your flame you can go both ways with it....an excellent tool I use constantly.. plus the hand......however I do not myself use the zoom in or out from that area. ok call me old fashion lol lol
Try it the only way you are going to know for sure. :D

Hi all.
I have try the new version and works fine. I make some tests and don't have any problem.
Now for the people that don't know well what to do with this new version. First this is an aplication only, so you must have install the oficial version 202 in your directory. Just make the download of the new version for your Comp. then copy, for the folder. where you have the Apo 202 and you can make a shortcut for your desktop for easy acess and thats all.
This version correct the errors that the 202Z final had and is a very good version.
There are always something that the people don't like, but this is different of the things that don't work well. For example if any one don't like the grids on the Transform Editor just open the Colors tab uncheck the Helpers Lines and on grids colors in the first small box, change the gray color for black and you get a clean Editor without lines.
The Render to the disk now is more, more faster.
A word to the people that are behind this version. Excelent work. THANK YOU!!!!
If any one have wont ask any thing, please do. If I know I help.

I don't know what it is the SS203a.SCR, I never heard about this.
The only think that I know and have is the new version of Flam3, that works for render when you use the function Export Flame. the last version can be download fron here:
http://flam3.com/index.cgi?&menu=code
Check on the text something like "Windows binaries are available as a zip file."
The terms zip file are underline, click on it.

It is the screen saver they came out with a few versions back I personally do not use it, infact I would not recommend the new Apo to anyone.....It will not recognize any directory I did exactly what you said to do and it still not recognize anything I can not save parameters I can not save or render anything period.
e-mail me at home also there maybe something I am doing incorrectly but right now I would tell people if you are happy with your current version do not change.

I don't understand?? Did you discover the incompatibilities after you thought it was working fine?
I looked on the web page when someone said this is a complete new package, but it certainly seems to be only another file to add to the last latest Apo file.
I am currently using Apo 2.02 and never went in for any of the follow-up Beta versions. Am I right in thinking it's best now to just stick with what I have for the time being?

Okay apo 2.02 is the main program for Apo like the engine . "if" you download 2.03a all you do is simply drop it into the same folder as 2.02
and give it a try, if you decided you do not like it, simply delete if 2.03a
It does have a lot easier methods to it. however as I mentioned before to me and it seems like only me are having problems, I will say I normally do at first. it is working now however I would suggest go to options and uncheck some of the new variations if your not used to working with the news, which myself I uncheck all the new ones. so at least at first you will see more of what you are used to seeing. your old .flame files will work if you have saved the parameters.......
Affraid I am a bit old fashion because I just do not care much for all this fancy stuff plain basic program with out all the whistles and flares are much easier to create in. but thats me and anyone on the original Apo list knows I do not like changes especially when it does not help me as an individual it does however is an advantage to those who have no idea what an original apo flame looks like.
So the answer is simple do what you think is best for you.

Anna if you are happy with this one 2.02 then don't change or just drop2.03a it into the folder of 2.02 and try it, if you don't like it simply delete it. I do have mine working now. I think I am really ready of a reformat. and that maybe the problem for me. and yes it is like an add on it is not a full version so yes you are totally right as it is just another beta version.

Seriously LouAnn if you are happy with what you are using 2.02 final then yes stay with like you said those of us that use Apo all the time would make a diference to us. but also see what I answered to Anna it is an addon meaning drop it into the 2.02 folder 2.03a exe that is, if you like it then use it, if you don't simply delete 2.03a and your 2.02 will be right back to what you know how to work on.
All of this is just a perferences and it does depend on how much you use it. If you are after the big fancy flames you can do the same thing on either version. It is up to you.

OK gang, after working with Apo 2.03A for hours, here are some thoughts..
I have 2.02, it was the first Apo program I downloaded a long time ago.. It is in my Program files, and still works fine.. After hearing about the Z version (and hearing about it too late, i couldnt get that version), I checked and discovered I was using 2.02 and so I went and downloaded the "i" version, which I have now had for about two weeks. That "i" version I downloaded to a folder on my desktop named New Apo. When 2.03A came out last night, I downloaded those new files to a subfolder inside my New Apo folder on my desktop and named it New New Apo. I will probably delete all the version "i" stuff except for the Images folder with images I made using that "i" version.
Images that I have rendered.... if I have the "save parameters" box checked, that flame will be saved to a file called "renders" in my Image file.. So if I want to go back to those renders I can just open that file in Apo and they are all there. Sorry for rambling here...
OK things I like... it seems that 2.02A renders a little faster? I like very much how we can rotate the flame.. The transform editor - the grid doesnt bother me. I like the new buttons, scale, move, rotate.. and also you can start out with a new blank flame. I am not that technical, so I am just putting down my thoughts here as they come to me.
All in all, I really like this new version and have made some very cool flames with it.. I stayed up til 4 am LOL and made at least 20 flames. Anything else technically that I can answer let me know what you want to know specifically. I don't know if I helped anyone here.. but thats my two cents worth. :D

Well I think that we have here a big confusion.
First you quote the first phrase, that is mine and mix, with others phrases that don't are mine, but if we read all the quote that seems that I make a contradition about the version 203a, and this is not true.
Second. Your questions "I don't understand?? Did you discover the incompatibilities after you thought it was working fine?
They are for who? Me or Carolyn?
This version have a lot of new thinks that some people consider a new package.
The use or not use the new versions it's a choice of everyone.
It's the same thing that the people that have the Bryce 3 or pose 4 or photoshop 6, etc, etc. They upgrade or ulpoad the news or more recent versions? or they stay allways with the old versions? it's the same principle and it's your choice.

It looks like most of the questions have been answered while I was asleep... lol!
The joys of living on the underside of the planet... haha!
Basic things to note about using Apo 2.03a :-
1. You still need to have Apophysis 2.02 (original from www.apophysis.org) installed
2. When you download Apo 2.03a, just drop the .exe file into your Apophysis directory and create a shortcut to it for your desktop. It will use the settings from your Apo 2.02 happily
3. Apo 2.03a is a nicely refined version of Apo 2.02z - there are many extra enhancements from the original Apo 2.02, and there are some changes to each of the editing windows - perseverence is the key when learning to navigate the new layout
4. The Contrast function in the Gradient window has a bug - when you click it, it doesn't appear to work - but in actual fact it does - it just doesn't update to the word "Contrast" - try it - it does work, even though it says "Rotate"... lol!
5. The Render to Disk is a heck of a lot faster than all previous versions... YAY! (Thank you guys!)
I only had a cursory play with the new version last night - but I think I love it!

The sreensaver it's an old aplication from Ron. You don't need this for nothing, this don't have nothing to do with Apo it's other thing. I think that you have download the wrong aplication.

if you like all the new features then sure keep it, If you don't then simply right click on 2.03a exe and delete it.
I really think you should try it otherwise you will never know for sure and try it for a few days before making any decissions.

Were you only clicking on the center window in the mutation large window, that is the only one you want unless your changing to one you like then sure you click on that one.......

Yup....click on something in the mutation window and it goes to the center, and changes itself when it gets there. it happens every time I try it. There is no way to get what you click because of the change, and sometimes it's completely different from what you saw. If i use "undo" it still doesn't go back to the fractal I picked. I've already uninstalled this version. I liked some of the new features, but lost a couple of really grand looking flames because of the glitch. Not worth it as far as I'm concerned.

The Mutation Window Allways work on this way since the begining of Apo. Isn't a problem of the new version, but I think you don't know how it works.
When you open the Mutation window the image that you have on the screen goes for the center, the others images that you have around are calculation that Apo does with others variations. You must look at them and chose one if you like. If you don't like none, just click on the image on the center and the Apo make news calculation and appear news images around . Repeat this until you get a image that you like. When you click on an image that are in the borders, this image came to the center and goes to the main screen, because it was a new image that you have select.
Try to see how it works with any image that you chose without the preocupation of created something, just play in the Mutation window and see what hapened.

Pakar, I've been working with APO since version 1. :D What I'm saying is that when I click on a flame (say, the one to the right of center) It should appear in the center square, and on my screen. It does not. A totally different flame appears, as though the program decided to mutate the one I picked. I've never had this happen in any of the other versions. LOL If I click on "UNDO" it does not go back to the other fractal, but creates a totally new fractal instead. There is no telling what I will get. Maybe I got a bad download. Ha ha ha ha ha. At any rate, version 2.02 is fine for me. It got to the point where all flames started to look alike and I don't spend much time creating them anymore.

Ok. I'm sorry I had not understood well. My English his poor and most of the times I have difficulty to understand the things right. My excuses.
This happened with the new variations and maybe the variations fan and rings. it's a bug in this new beta version. The developers already know this and tell that they have corrected this one and some others. Now we must waite for the next realese. My advice are that you don't use (checked) the last 7 variations on the variation tab in Options.

I've not had any major problems with 2.03a myself except for running the batch rendering scripts... (using the internal render engine - NOT Flam3)
I don't use Flam3... ever... but that's just my choice.
Apo 2.03a inserts a "gradient" parm into the parameter files which really upsets the batch render script... lol! As long as I remember to edit out that parm in my flame batches, I'm fine though...
So far, I've tried the Funky Flames method, which works very well - and various spiral scripts, which also have worked a whole lot better than they did in Apo 2.02z.
I tend to work mainly with the linear, sinusoidal, spherical, and horseshoe variations - so the problems with the new variations haven't affected me as yet - I might have to have a play with those in the next few days and see what I can make happen...
For those still struggling with the new interface in Apo 2.03a, Lance has a whole new tutorial for that version on his website... address is as follows...
http://www.thefractalfarm.net/203a/Main/203aindex.htm - there is also a downloadable PDF version there for those like me who print these things off... lol! I'll be poring over that in the next few days too...

I've not had any major problems with 2.03a myself except for running the batch rendering scripts... (using the internal render engine - NOT Flam3)

Actually - Lance now has 2 tutorial links... one for the original version of 2.02, and another for the new version 2.03a
The links are as follows...
http://www.thefractalfarm.net/apotut/Index/tutindex.htm - for the original v2.02
http://www.thefractalfarm.net/203a/Main/203aindex.htm - for new version 2.03a
The only link that you really need to remember is http://www.thefractalfarm.net/ - as that is the main page, and has links to both tutorials (and other fun stuff)
