IT Freebies

For anyone that was not aware the freebies part of the IT site is for links only. Your free item needs to be hosted elsewhere. That is unless it is an image and those can be uploaded to IT directly.

Not just you :hug: Really this announcement should have been made a long time ago - but you know how things are........you make a "to do" list and then promptly loose it :raincloud - I don't know how you actually do it but I am sure that Classylady or Ron could answer that one for you as they seem to have it cracked. :airborne:

There are lots of free web sites out there that will allow you to upload things to them and direct link. Most of the things that you would put in freebies would be in the form of a zip file which is basically like looking at a web page except it would down load immediately when clicked on.

Just do a search for free websites. Pic one that offers a lot of space. Like freewebs.com Geocities has free sites but truthfully they hate hotlinking so make sure whatever site you get for something like this will allow that.

Pat if you run into problems let us know I can always post it to our site for you but don't get these free sites most say one thing and do just the opposite.

What software are you using that will make a difference if your posting via ftp that is one way but if you are using Front page all you need to do is post it on one of your sites just make sure the wording in correct. it will most likel be just a simple upload... see my next answer :)
One thing you never want to do is allow any hotlinking uploading a zip file to your site is not the same as hot linking. that is when someone links to an image and will run up your bandwidth. just go to you control panel at your site then click on file manager you can set it up that way also. Is really is easy to do. Like I said if you want we can alwyas post it to our site.

EXACTLY!!! I just noticed Freebies is no longer one of our links at the top - it's been replaced by Shop!!!!!!!!!!

That ought to be rectified immediately in my opinion, as there's a demand for them, and several of us have done a lot of work producing some lately!!

OK, there is a way of finding them, but it's not good enough....

Here's how..

Click on Home (top left) which will take you to the main front page of IT. Then under the main navigation bar, look to the second lower link to the right, it's there! HERE (http://www.innertraveler.com/freebies/index.php?product=1) is the direct link...

Judee, what headers would you like these to go under? It may be possible to open up new section, as there was one recently opened specifically for PSP/PSD tubes.

If you decide on what you'd like, then may I suggest sending a pm to Engel47, vos, or Rumour and then you will get the needed attention and replies? I'm so sorry this got overlooked - I think we were more concerned as to where the Freebies section had actually disappeared to!

That's okay, Anna, I did see all the "Hunt for the Freebies!!" stuff, and knew that was why this got overlooked - quite notmal, lol, how can anyone post freebies if they can't find them! :spotlight I will check with the others about this, thanks!

I would upload the link to the Textures section, Judee. If you list them specifically as clothing textures in your description, people will know what they are. I don't really think we need to split the Texture Freebies up into little bits at this stage, else then we will have to have ones for wood, metal, skin, bumps, stone... If it gets big enough later on to warrant splitting up, we might do it then.

Okay, I'm game too! I can only upload one "package" per day, but I've finally gotten three of my freebies up - some backgrounds, and some textures for the Scare Bears and for the Tunika dress by Lady Byron.

Got another one too, but it needs to be put together into one package, and I don't have time right now as I have my tax returns to finish by Tuesday.

I've made a Beginners Tutorial for Daz Studio, and I would like people to benefit from it. (After all, lol, that's why I made it!) It is apparently not too shabby, because I've gotten a lot of positive feedback about it - I just don't know what is the best way to tell people about it. It's really geared for people who have no idea what all this 3d posing stuff is.

Not sure we actually have that many D/S users, we did a poll a while ago but not many actually voted - if I recall I think there were 2 votes :) So for the time being - as far as we can tell, there is no call for a separate D/S forum - but posting in the Poser forum should OK - Just put D/S in the title :cuddle:

Okay, I'll just post a link to it for now (or rather tomorrow) as it's online at my site. I pay for a Geocities site with a pageBuilder, so I really don't know how to format it for other sites. (Yep, i'm just an old dinosaur who never learned html or php or whatever it is.

I am going to get it all in Doc and PDF format as soon as I get my taxes done, so anyone can just download it - but I'm kind of stretched for time at the moment. I'll let you know and maybe you or someone will know how to format it for your tut section.

I'll keep in touch about it, meanwhile I'll post a link in the Poser forum.

I have just added a set of 28 animal brushes for Photoshop 7 or higher to Miscellaneous section of freebies.. To load them into Photoshop, unzip them then open up your computer, programs, adobe, photoshop, presets, brushes then place the ABR file there. Next time you use brushes you will find them in your brushes. Enjoy!! :)

I also added a freebee.

But i was browsing the models section when i posted my freebee and noticed most don't have a link. I guess they should be removed or a link added. Also i found one that had a link to a store and asks $ for it, and that in a freebee section ?.

Anyway, i made a mug with the innertraveller logo. Don't know if i can put that up in the freestuff also with that logo, if i can i will.

Please have a look at the models section where there are a few things wrong and fix it.

Have added more png files of animals in freebies. A mixed bag you may use however you wish. PNG files can be used in photoshop or psp becaue they are transparent backgrounds. Enjoy them, you do no have to credit me but it would be nice if you did. :)

There was a problem downloading a couple of my freebie backgrounds because the server they were on was not working properly.. I have reuploaded them to share cg.. today I added the bubblebackgrounds back and tomorrow I will add the sparkley ones back...I will change the others that still work on that server soon to share cg.. and unfortunetly my PS scenery backgrounds were lost on the server and I cannot find my original zip file for them right now..
