Hi,
at the end of 2005 the first public beta of Terragen 2 will appear. For registered users the upgrade will be less expensive. Is here anybody who thinks about purchasing it? I think that TG2 will be a great step forward! Here are some infos:

Well, it looks like a big step forward, I just hope that the 3d view which programmers say will reflect in realtime the changes to one's work does not take a lot of time to render a decent auto preview of the changes.
I personally hate mojoworld for the time it takes to have a decent preview when moving the camera, while I think that it is a program which in competent hands is a bit better than terragen. Still I won't use it because of this problem, and I hope this is not happening to Terragen.
Let's see what it is capable of. I sincerely hope there is going to be a non reg evaluation version, like in earlier versions of terragen.

Will there be a free version of TG2?

Having a version of TG that is free for personal non-commercial use has been very successful for us, and we would like to continue that with TG2.

... they say so! :eat_arrow

That's good news. TG2 will be really different, and I hope it maintains the general ease of use of its previous versions, while adding on possibilities and results...

from the TG2 FAQ:
Will TG2 still have the "black horizon" which TG skies can have if the sky cover size is not set large enough?

No, the sky in TG2 is global. Wherever you look that should have sky there will be sky.

NOW THIS REALLY EXCITES ME, I HATE THAT BLACK HORIZON!!!

I think it's Oshyan who is doing the beta testing on this, he keeps posting them to the galleries at render... I know the clouds I saw blew me away, not to mention the magnficent terrains that will comeout. There is also supposed to be some sort of support in the program itself to add trees etc... Not sure how that will happen, but it's going to be a wonderful new program and the upgrade from the current one is long awaited.

If you've already purchased it the fee is supposed to be minimal as they can afford... :) FIngers crossed.

I hope so! I think that TG2 will get much better in the 3d-program workflow because of many import possibilities like obj-format :floating:

I'm just about to register my free TG - here's the good news from their site that I've seen this morning...

From now until midnight of December 31st 2005 (GMT) you can register Terragen for the special price of $79 USD, a discount of $20. You will still qualify for at least $99 USD off the price of Terragen 2, which means an extra $20 saving then, as well as all the normal benefits of registration mentioned below.

This at least gets me onto the right path I feel.....................

Yeah - I think now you should do this! TG is such a wonderful program and with registration you get better render possibilities and can render above the limit of the free version, but this will you know.

Yes Anna I do agree, if your going to be working in Terragen best to get it registered now and for them to set a deadline must mean it will be out soon......Good Deal hope it won't be to much after the first of the year.
