As the winner of the november challenge, I have chosen THE THEME FOR THE DECEMBER TERRAGEN CHALLENGE,
AND IT IS....

******* "ETERNAL WINTER" *******

This is an "easy" theme, suited for the winter period. Most of it can be achieved showing a very cold setting, lots of snow, gloomy lights, frozen lakes, and mountains a go-go... But I hope that you imagination goes far beyond of mine!!!

RULES:

1) No postwork other than the usual resizing, level adjustment, sharpening...

2) Up to THREE images for each artist.

3) (NOTE: edited dates!) The contest will run until december, 26th. The voting, by a thread I will open at the right time, will start on december, 27th and end december, 30th. Each person who has submitted an image will have THREE votes to cast on images, which will all be worth ONE point, while other hosts and users not partecipating will have ONE vote worth one point to cast.

4) The winner will CHOOSE THE THEME FOR THE NEXT OFFICIAL I.T. TERRAGEN CONTEST!

5) You may begin to upload your images from december 6th, and the last images must be online on december 26th.

6) For any questions please use this thread, and I'll try and answer a.s.a.p. (but note that on saturdays and sundays I am not online).

GOOD WORK!!!!!!!

A very good theme - it's a good opportunity of fiddling with the different snow-layers to show eternety... :floating:

ps: with photoshop postwork it would be much easier...

Excellent choice....Snow may appear to be an easy thing to do in terragen...but in reality, is not only about the color but about the texture is what makes it difficult.
Good luck everybody
:)

Very true snow is not easily obtained in the correct manner. :boogie:

You'r right, Carolyn, but alas, due to my vacations I won't be around in some crucial days (and above all not later than december 30th), so I was left with the only possibility to decide this way.
I think we can shorten a bit the voting, from 27th to 30th, and the contest can go on to 26th. I am making the edit now!

Now thats a good idea Rev shortening the voting actually most vote within the first day or 2.......

But if ever you need help closing a Challenge leave a message in the Mod room I am sure we can all help you out. I know I would ...Heck I don't mind at all helping out we all have times when we can't be here and this time of the year is even harder ....

Have a wonderful time away... :blowkiss:

I'm sorry I do not understand your voting rules, to me it doesn't say who is in 1st place or 3rd place. Unless your counting just votes only for that one person.... Some how it does NOT seem correct to vote this way.
Example
so I get 15 1 points yet I maybe the second name listed

and say Robert get 15 1 points yet his name listed in the number 1 slot

so who would win.......???

Example only people nothing more so don't read something into this that isn't there.

mmmm affraid I just don't under stand this voting here.
just doesn't make any since to me.

ummm also its now the 27th .......lol where are you Rev lol

Each person who has submitted an image will have THREE votes to cast on images, which will all be worth ONE point,

while other hosts and users not partecipating will have ONE vote worth one point to cast.

I think they can make the difference, they have only one vote, just hope they vote

Hi,
I think Rev will say a few words as soon as he can - I will now write down my part:

everybody who has submitted one, two or max. three pictures has 3 points to vote... he can give each of them to different artists or all of them to only one artist; another possibility is to give two points away for a picture and one point (this one is left) to another picture. It doesn't matter if an artist has submitted one, two or three pictures because he only has 3 points for his votings. I have uploaded three pictures and will get three points to vote. Big H has uploaded 1 picture (I think) and he gets 3 points to vote.

Robert de Niro hasn't submitted a picture (bad boy! ;) ) he will get one point and nothing more if he wants to vote. I think that this kind of voting is correct because the artist who has worked for the contest has now three votes to give and the lazy one has only one because he hasn't uploaded anything into this challenge.

I will vote later because I have to look again at all the wonderful Number-1 pictures!

The voting doesn't make sense to me either...I get 3 votes...can only use 1 per image...so I cannot differentiate between the one I like the best, they are all equal...this will probably end up in many tie votes....
The voting was supposed to start Dec...27...haven't seen a notice yet about it !!!!!with all the down time this may present a problem...

classylady

I agree Terry it makes no sense to me, for one you can't tell where anyone is in the most votes.

I understand Robert and Chris what your saying but I also think there is a better way of doing this.

Infact I'm going to incorporate something similar in the fractal challenges.

If someone does not enter they either should not vote or only be able to vote 1 point for 1 person.

So I understand what your saying I just think there is a better way to control it.

at least you'll be able to see who has gotten votes.

Yet Robert you entered 3 you should have 3 votes, yet if anyone only submitted 1 image then to me they should only get 1 vote......

As for this months voting, yes I would image the way the site has been Rev hasn't had a chance to get here when it is up. Yet I do believe he mentioned somewhere his time at work this week would be limited. He only has access from his work. May not be a bad idea to just wait till after the 1st of the year
by then hopefully the site problems will be straightened......(NOT HOLDINGMY BREATHE THOUGH) :waffen093 :pissedoff

Rev,is only online when he works, and IT was down all day.
I just hope this is the only problem, that IT was down and Revenant is ok.

no - why? When we'll do so only artist who have supported an image can vote! The 1-point-only is for people who haven't uploaded! :ninjabatt

ps: I hope Rev is ok too!!

Revs Rules

" Each person who has submitted an image will have THREE votes to cast on images, which will all be worth ONE point, while other hosts and users not partecipating will have ONE vote worth one point to cast."

I read that as no matter whether you posted 1, 2 or 3 images you only get 3 votes....and can only use ONE vote per image you are voting for...so we are treating each image as equal....not possible to place them first, second or third...and if the voting is widespread then will be lots of ties...

I do not disagree that non participants only get 1 vote...that is fair....

I imagine the ups and downs of IT is making it difficult for Rev to post...

What I'd like to know is, why can't we do the voting the same with TG as with all the other challenges, i.e. 5,3 and 1 point for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, which to me, means it's not possible to do favouritism votes, because the final results can come out surprisingly differently.

If the voting here was the same as anywhere else in IT, there wouldn't be a need for all this debate. It's up to the individual mod to state whether or not people who didn't enter the contest are allowed to vote, but if they are, then why make it any different for them since the outcome will still have a surprising ending in any case?

classylady
28th December 2005, 14:54
I dunno it all sounds strange to me, like Anna said why can't it all be the same? Yet if it is up to each Mod and not site wide like it always has been, then I dunno guess it is his decision.

I think possibly this thread or part of it should be started in another area of the site. Thats if the site stays up long enough... :duel:

Whatever he wants is fine, I just don't understand the theory behind it is all
but it doesn't matter. whatever. :blowkiss:

After this last month, and server problems who knows what will happen next :sherlock:

I had an e-mail from Rev:

cannot get in again. I have never managed to do it between yesterday and today, trying at least 20 times. I'll try again later. If you get in please post something in the Terragen forum saying I cannot close the contest for the problems we are experiencing, so please post a VOTING thread for the december contest for me, and specify it will not close on supposed date, but when I am back online stably

So I will do that now :)
