Hi terra-gents,

until now I used the Antialiasing in terragen. Because I'm registered user I normaly enable 'ultra' thinking of getting a better result. Now I've done two orthographic render one with AA ultra and another without AA... you get more details without using AA! The terragen AA seems to smooth and nothing more - the photoshop filter 'unsharp mask' does this very much better! :worship:

What else we can do? I think the best results you get rendering in a resolution up to three times bigger than the resolution you wanna have and then downsampling the image. Example: If you want a 800 x 600 pixel picture, than render in 2048 x 1024. The downsampling from a higher resolution keeps the details very well.

I would like to hear what setting you use. Thx!

I quite agree on this one, but the rule of three times bigger must be respected. I see that photoshop and other programs work with a sort of "rule of three": they resample a lot better an image three times bigger. Resampling, while it may be smart and quite effective, and with well thought algorythms, is a "median" method. Antialiasing is another "median" method which tends to soften things somewhat, so at last we find that resampling and using AA, we do blur things a lot. Given I like to use a lot of unsharp masks, it would be a little dumb to blur things to sharpen them again later. :lachen001
