View Full Version : Apologies if I appeared to be shouting - I wasn't....

I do apologise if people have thought I was shouting when making use of the easy-to-use bold and coloured print in some of my messages, replies and comments. I actually wasn't meaning to do that, but it has been pointed out to me that it does look as though I'm perhaps angry or being emphatic about something.

Just by way of explanation, I run an on-line support group for people with chronic illness, some of whom are actually registered blind, although they can just see stuff if it's in large, bold print, and so all of us in that group use our own particular colours, fonts, and at least a size 4(14) font for the benefit of these people - it's also fun to have our own colours! (At least I didn't go to a larger sized font here! lol!) So all I was doing really was carrying on with the colours I like to use etc.

So from now on, except for specific announcements, I'll stick with the normal "boring" font etc. here, just so there are no misunderstandings! At least I wasn't using capital letters!! Anyway, I do hope no-one took offence..

I'm sure it's fine when we're making announcements, it's when we're just writing a normal message that perhaps it's considered a bit OTT. Some people are more sensitive than others, lol! I thought shouting was when whole sentences were written in capital letters, but seems there's more to it than that!

Thanks for your kind response, Carolyn. Much appreciated. :)

This is interesting .........If I wrote the following as a comment to a pic........"AWESOME SUPERBE image" ... am I shouting. I do this all the time just to point out that I really like what I see.

Well, now we do have the facility to be able to underline words in the reply boxes without having to go into edit, so presumably to be in line with internet protocol, that's the way to emphasise something!

But I honestly feel we shouldn't get too hung up on all this - I'm quite sure no-one is shouting anything other than good things here!!! If we read the context, then we should soon pick up whether or not a person is angry or pleased, I'd have thought!

I wouldn't worry about it.

What I hate is when I accidently hit my caps lock and i'VE ALREADY WRITTEN SEVERAL LINES BEFORE i NOTICE IT AND SO HAVE TO GO BACK AND REWRITE EVERYTHING SO NO ONE WILL THINK i'M SHOUTING.

Not so much the size of the words - it was a post that was entirely in dark red print and also in bold - perhaps black would have seemed less "threatening"? Normally I agree if one posts IN CAPITAL LETTERS that is normally seen as shouting!

So there we have it! Nutt'n more to be said, other than sorry to anyone who felt threatened. :worship:
