Jrsaldana has chosen the THEME FOR THE FEBRUARY TERRAGEN CHALLENGE,
AND IT IS....
******* "MOUNTS AND VALLEYS" *******
RULES:
0) ONLY THE TERRAIN WHICH SASSENACH WILL LINK IN THIS THREAD CAN BE USED TO DO THE RENDER (the terrain has been suggested by jrsaldana, and has been made by ENVIRONAUT) (the link should be here by today...)
1) No postwork other than the usual resizing, level adjustment, sharpening...
2) Up to THREE images for each artist.
3) The contest will run until FEBRUARY, 24th. The voting, by a thread I will open at the right time, will start on the same day and end FEBRUARY 27th. Each person who has submitted an image will have THREE votes to cast on images, which will all be worth ONE point, while other hosts and users not partecipating will have ONE vote worth ONE point to cast. If you need any explaination, please refer to the "Voting in terragen contests (http://www.innertraveler.com/messagecenter/showthread.php?t=1477)" thread for a reference on how to vote.
4) The winner will CHOOSE THE THEME FOR THE NEXT OFFICIAL I.T. TERRAGEN CONTEST!
5) You may begin to upload your images from FEBRUARY 7th, and the last images must be online on february 24th.
6) For any questions please use this thread, and I'll try and answer a.s.a.p. (but note that on saturdays and sundays I am not online).
GOOD WORK!!!!!!!

Just so you know, I haven't given up on TG, I simply don't have the program handy at the moment!
My main pc has been waiting for a replacement screen now for a month, and still no idea when it will arrive, as the original company who have my existing one under a 3 year on-site warranty, and who promise to do the turnaround within 5 days, have just handed over to a new company - so I may end up having to buy an entirely new and different screen at this rate! Be warned, if you aren't using one, don't buy an AOC flat screen! They're wonderful while they last, but the service is appalling and this is the second time mine has had to be replaced or repaired - last time it was repaired because they had no replacements even then, and that was last September!
Meanwhile I'm using my laptop, and this is such a blessing, but it doesn't have the RAM and horsepower of my main pc, so I keep it clear of big programs other than stuff like PSP and Apophysis! lol!
So.. Unless some solution to this is found pretty quickly, I shall again be unable to take part in the TG contest - bummerrrrrr!!! :sadangel:

Is it me or is the terrain pieced together???? The one I downloaded has a huge line through the center ??? If that's the right one, then I'll do some pics with it... But wanted to make sure... :))))

Yeah its pieced together, I had a big problem with it that way, you get blank spots in certain places. One particular place I loved the view was perfect for the challenge but dang there was this black spot on one side because of the piecing :(

(taken from the main thread, to improve visibility)
I don't know why but there's been a problem which messed up a lot the terrain jrsaldana sent me. I do have the ok file, but it seems that it went corrupted between me and Sass. So SASS WILL LINK AGAIN THE FILE!!!
I have decided that any render made with the old messed version of the terrain is admitted to the contest, anyway!
Sorry for the problem!

Does the winner keep an award as price?
Thank you very much for all :)

Hi epsylon, This is the link to the file that you are to use for the Terragen Contest. http://home.comcast.net/~lonkat/Challenge_IT_AGAIN.ter
When you want to upload your image to the site you have to choose what area to put it in and you will see the (Terragen Challenge ) as one of the choices to put your image in. Good Luck, Patt :)

I realy thank this community to give chance for every one 'cause the terrain is 513x513:)
Is it allowed to upload the picture in another community for testing other comunity's reactions:example=Renderosity?
I saw the second terrain and I made surfacing, light, atmo by myself:I kept a great render :)
I haven't saw the first set(.ter,.tgw)
I'll try to make as well as I can
NB:I'm able to write tutotial:example=how to make rays for helping the beginners,'cause the tut I saw are giving an excellent render with TerragenV0.919 but not for V0943: they spoke about this at http://www.ashundar.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=78

Hi epsylon..The rules for some reason do not say that you can't post your image at other sites, but I think it is part of all the innertraveler contest rules for each genre. So I would not post it just in case it is forbidden and you may get disqualified. Patt :)

Oh! :o I'll try and remember to state it in the next contest rules: the images must not have been published elsewhere!!!

That is in fact an overall IT site-wide rule.
