I've uploaded the backdrop of my Mermaid Thoughts scene (and the Jeshua one) into the Collaboration gallery HERE (http://www.innertraveler.com/publicgallery/showphoto.php?photo=24140&nocache=1), with some ideas written beneath it..

I'd love to see what anyone else might make of it, and especially to see if a Merman could be produced for a needy Mermaid - even some children (Mermurs) hey!!!

I'm having extreme problems with how to get a zipped file uploaded anywhere! My own personal site doesn't allow for any such thing; Image Shack has size restrictions; Free websites are far too small for the purposes I want them for; Other than using FrontPage I don't think I can get my head around using any new webhosting service these days, and I really haven't the time to start working up a new site now in any case. Any ideas for an idiot??

I was very surprised that a zipped folder was still so large! Initially I thought of uploading PSD or PSP layers into an attachment here - silly me!!! Does anyone have any ideas on how I can overcome these difficulties, and also, how on earth a zipped folder can be reduced in size via compression or something? Is there a zipping program out there that would do this without ultimately losing the quality of original files? (Having XP does mean I can zip files up, but the compression isn't what I was hoping for!)

winrar is about the best app for compressing files...not sure if its freeware tho....i know you get a 40 day free trial....ive been told you then get a naggin massage to upgrade..but you can still use the app.

For those that have come across rar files....and they are becoming more popular...but havnt been able to open them...here is a link to a free unpacker for winrar

scroll to the bottom of the page for download.

As for a free site...heres one...offers 1gig of online storage free.

It's a wonderful idea - not promising to participate, we'll see how it goes - but as for zipping, sending, all that - can't we just click to enlarge the image then right click and download as a .bmp? I thought bmp keeps the qualits.

Or is it that you had to upload as a jpg and so feel it already is less than the original tiff?

What would be really great would be to have it in layers.

Okay, I have enough space on my site to host it, even the big file, for a short time. I have a ftp I can load it with (I think, they don't have file size limits do they?) The problem is, how to get it to me? Can a file that size be emailed? I could certainly do the smaller one if not the larger.

Or maybe I could pm you the ftp info? It's a free program. You could download it and I could give you the site coordinates, etc.

PM me if you think that would work.

oh, and it's such a lovely scene, I hope I have time to play with it!

Edit: Er, um, I just realized people are already submitting on this, so maybe it's not necessary, just let them grab it from in here - they are certainly doing great images!

WOW!!! I'm so impressed with what I've seen people do with this backdrop so far, it's really exciting to see other people's ideas and input! I do hope there'll be more soon.. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/^/aiw/hi.gif

And then.. I think I'll put a couple more scenes up for people - these collabs are such a wonderful way to get the creative juices going!

@Judee, as you said, it seems the jpeg that I uploaded is doing fine so far, and there doesn't appear to be any loss of info on any of the ones people have worked on - in fact it gets better and better, lol! (I'm afraid I like to have the tiff file for printing purposes, but that isn't really very relevant in this case. Thanks very much indeed for your offer - I have ftp in fact, so I could do what you suggested, but it really isn't looking necessary at this point.

@Tripper, I will look into that program, thanks very much for the info and links.

I have to thank because my seahorses wouldn't never get a second chance...it was a big fun to make the picture!

The uploaded jpeg was of exceptional quality. I am assuming that no extra data compression was involved because it ended up with 2.13 MB of data after converting to png. (I like working with png and bmp files at this point.)

I do however use some slight compression when creating the final jpg for uploading.

Send more! I'm still hungry..
