Hi,

seems to be that a lot of artists (me too) love this kind of making new versions of artwork. This forum needs a more support because its fun and creative to make a new artwork out of another one... (hope you understand my rolling english).

I don't know yet if a contest would be right or not... but: a contest ever is a fantastic way to stimulate other, that's the true! In the terragen forum we just have seen that its a great way to get other artist (look at the running contest with the same terrain!).

Let's start a little poll.

I think colabs are fun..I have only done one so far..but would do more..you get a chance to work with other artists and use interpretations of that persons art and create what you envision...

So far my favorites have been ones where we can add dimension to backgrounds or landscapes. Sometimes as with TG or Vue I think it is, you can add other elements. Then too the poser figures are fun. Not always easy hand art ones, but they can be challenging too...

I'm game, as I have a difficult time coming up with ideas and would love to see this forum expand.

Sometimes what one artist sees another sees more depth or more colors or different view.

Let's make it rock and roll in here!!!!

The collaborations have been very educational for me. I spent several hours working with the "Seascape" and came up with nothing... that is nothing but experience. (The final image I ended up with came after a few sips of Rene Junot and a long nap..)

All in all it is just plain fun!

I think it's wonderful fun, and I hope to participate soon. As it is, I haven't been giving enough time to my own non-fractal renders, so I want to catch up a bit, but this is perfect for when you want to do womething a little different. Especially with such lovely scenes to work with!

I think its fun to do! Sometimes I look at other peoples works and think to myself something like If I added something here it would make this so different. Its fun to do to show others how you see their work. Im seriously considering uploading one of my ps7 bgs to see what ya can do with it. :) maybe...

Nice - we started the collaborations forum and gallery in the hope that this would eventually happen :)

I am always happy to do a poser figure for ya to work on :headbang: :gallery:

One idea that might be fun - take a poser male or female nude figure rendered without shadow on a plain bg (we could put a bikini on her and undies on him for TOS) and let those of us who would like to paint on the hair and/or clothes - even add our own background if we wish.

That's one I would really enjoy, as I need to work on my regular painting skills!

We did or are doing one now .
I would rather work on some one pic that they have done - nudes are ok .
Now if we could get a nude model to work with thats would be nice .

There are a couple in the collaborators gallery now if you fancy having a go :) I will post another nude later today for you to work on (and post the link to it here to make it easy to find) :)

Thanks for uploading, Engel - I realize now how I missed the others - I didn't realize there was a separate Collab gallery - I'd been looking in the Collab Challenge gallery!

I am going to enjoy this!

Lol, but I hope you are patient!

For me it's fine. But I'ld like to see a little more order or organization on this, because somtimes we have months whihout nothing new to do, and now we 3 images ( Robert, Anna and Engel) for play at the same time.

Pakar - take your pick :) You don't have to do all 3 - choose one, or two or perhaps all 3 if you have the time :)

It is not organised you are correct - but that's because we mainly do them for fun only - not strict about it :boogie:

In the past year I have rendered quite a few images that would make good backgrounds and/or image elements. Some are posted here, others in the newsgroup world.

I'd be glad to make anything of mine available on request (no sig, better render or the original bitmaps/any format and perhaps with transparent backgrounds.)

I don't know... just ask! :-)

AK's seascape had an awesome response, as well it should!

Im game! and would be glad to submit a background in bryce, or a terrain in terragen, etc, for someone to work with...let me know if interested. I have several of my own tg terrains, and tons of land and sky bryce backgrounds.

I might add here that there are other ideas that can work too. Nudes are great for dressing and adding a background (or not) and terrains are perfect for adding what you want to the scenery, and actually the two can even go together - nude dressed and put into a terrain.

However, don't forget there are more complex scenes that can be interesting challenges. A city street. A front porch on a cabin. A living room with a fire in the fireplace. Or even a sci-fi or alien environment. Anything goes!

I do enjoy this kind of project - I just wish I had more time! I think one of the reasons I will probably work on the nudes more than the scenes is that I have gotten very rusty with my actual painting, pc style that is. This will be a good way for me to exercise that, by painting clothes and maybe hair. Lol, I said maybe!

Can't wait to see the collab gallery fill up with goodies.

Here is a suggestion... since we do have a challenge gallery also, maybe we should Officially have a Monthly Challenge, and then just have other collabs being posted in the regular collab gallery.

Or is that already the case? I thought I saw something that was a challenge, but don't see it anymore.

Of course, we don't have to have a challenge, we can just keep it anything goes. But Anything Goes with a monthly challenge thrown in might be nice too..

judee3d,
we have had a collaboration challenge
ppetersen does the Collaboration Challenge but she does also the Fine Art Challenge and it give a bit of work to do two challenge at the same time.
And it is not always a nude we have had the picture from Robert S Whaler and Whale....
and the picture from AnnaKirsten Seascape

Thanks, vos! I wasn't sure if those were challenges in the official sense or just intended to do whenever - I guess it's a bit of both. :yin-yang:

I just finally read through the entire thread, and a small suggestion as BigH did already, if you have a background you would like to challenge the artists with here at IT, open a new thread with it... then we can look at it, and decide to take the plunge... Several 'collabs' can be worked on at once, always.

The only time only one would be is if it's a 'Challenge' and that's a horse of a different color. :) But collabs are indeed fun and it's always wonderful to see..... We can always run several at one time...

I think this is an excellent idea. I hesitate over whether I can do anything as I am not very good with post work - but hey, its one way to learn and improve :)

No time limit whatsover - they are normally for fun only - occassionally we do have a challenge with a time limit but that would be announced :)
