Hi everyone
I just updated my Dragon's Eye image , I added lips to the dragon's mouth which I think makes it look a little more realistic. Check it out and let me know what you think. Please view it at its original size by double clicking on the image at

Yup, took a look and the lips look good! Are you drawing all this yourself? And the eye itself? That looks like a real eye - it's excellent!

Hi Anna
This image all started with just the texture. The eye was a cat's eye I modified and the rest , eyebrows ,eyelashes, teeth , lips etc is all me.

You've done very well! I did have a feeling about the eye though, it's very hard to emulate one of those so accurately! Your texturing is excellent.
The only thing I would say (if it's ok?) is that I feel the eyelashes look slightly false. Can't put my finger on why exactly, maybe it's the grey colour, and maybe they're just a little bit too "proliferous"? I have a feeling they would be a bit more short and straight, possibly going downwards to an angle rather than upwards? How does that seem to you? In aimals (as they are meant to be with humans too, lol!!!) they are really there to protect the eyeball, but then just maybe you want a glamorous dragon? http://smilies.sofrayt.com/fsc/diadem.gif

Good points Anna but I was trying to match the shadow of the cats original ones. When they were black it was very hard to see them there. Who knows how a dragon's real lashes look like anyways lol.
Thanks for the pointers.
As for making the eye from scratch I like challeges and will work on that.

That would be good, I think eyes are intriguing!
We often do see eyes on their own emerging out of clouds or undergrowth in pictures, and it's easy enough (for some) to draw eyes for this purpose, but a closeup of the actual eye itself, with all the different shadings inside the iris, the lighting, the roundness, now that really is a big challenge! All different too, depending on whether human or animal, and which animal too!
Sounds rather like a good doodle to have a go at - loads of different eyes, lol! (It's what I always find myself doodling when I'm on the phone, believe it or not! Must have a "thing" about them - any psychologists out there? But I don't think I've ever gone into that sort of depth as to get a really realistic looking one yet!)
Yeah, I wonder if dragons do have eyelashes... Better ask a Welshman! lol!
