View Full Version : The Travelers Pub is now Serving!

Come on in folks, the Travelers Pub is now serving refreshments for all around!
Over to the left, you will see a table with several coffee machines and a hot water dispenser for you tea lovers. Two sizes of cups available as seen in our IT store. Choose your decoration - and your choice of coffee or tea:
In coffee we have decaf, regular, and espresso, and even Irish Coffee for those that dare. (Only one per customer) Our selection of teas includes regular Tea tea, Earl Grey, Green Tea and an assortment of Herbal teas. You want it, we got it. And if you can't find what you want, just ask, I've got a virtual supply house out back.
At the main bar you can of course have any kind of beer you wish, light dark, brand name, bottle, tap, etc. Just one rule - no more than one if you are driving, and no drunk and disorderly allowed in the Traveler's Pub. Sorry, no hard alchohol served here, but we do have an assortment of French and Swiss and Californian wines. Red and white. Champagne only for celebrations, and Pink Champagne only for Super Celebrations!
Er, one rule, no dancing on tables! :chorus:
Also at the main bar is an assortment of soft drinks - colas (either brand), rootbeer, whatever, both regular and no sugar varieties. Served as you wish in a glass, or a can or a bottle. The rootbeer is served in frosty mugs, though you can also have other drinks served that way as well - but only on request. We also, of course, have Ice Tea - home made from our very own assortment of hot teas, so if you want it, just ask. A variety of mineral waters are available too - both with and without bubbles.
We try to please. :beerchug:
Now, with all of that, what about food? Aha! Well, sorry to say, we don't have a kitchen or grill area (yet) though we may add one if requested. For now we have "finger food". Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, (all kinds of nuts what do you expect in a place like this?) and of course the chips of all kinds. On the healthy side we have carrot sticks, celery sticks and other healthy tidbits.
You will notice that, in addition to our regular seating, we have a Lounge area with comfy armchairs and sofas and soft lighting. Feel free to go relax and enjoy. We also have a Huge and ever changing Gallery of Art for you to stroll through and comment on.
:gallery:
And don't forget our Inner Traveler meeting rooms where you can go to discuss various kinds of Art: The fascinating Fractals; World Building with Terragen, Bryce, Vue; Pose Art with Poser or Daz Studio; creation through Modeling; All about Animation; and of course, our rooms for Photography, Paint Programs, Mixed Media, and the newly named Traditional and Digital Drawing and Painting.
All of these rooms are here in Inner Traveler and accessible not only through the Pub, but from outside as well. However, we do hope you will stop by the Travelers Pub any time you want to have a talk about this or that, announce some special news, share your ideas - whatever.
Above all, welcome to the Travelers Pub, where Artists of all genre gather to chat about whatever they want. Consider this your Pub away from home! I am your friendly hostess and I hope to make your stay both comfortable and enjoyable.
You are most welcome, so come on in and make yourself at home.
Now, what may I serve you?

judee3d
29th March 2006, 10:06
Why, of course we have bagels, Lou Ann/wile1! Would you like some cream cheese with that?
Chris/Vos I would not recomment dancing on the chairs either - as you notice, we do have a spacious dance floor over there on the right. Just put a token in the jukebox and dance away!
You too, BigH, even you can dance on the floor! Dancing isn't a matter of skill, it's a matter of heart, so dance away!
Oh, aside from the many artworks dressing the walls of the Traveler's Pub, you will find the Main Gallery just beyond the Pub, right up there between the IT Shop and the Freebie Central.
I've already noticed new artworks - they just keep getting added every day! Never a dull moment!

Welcome pacman,
Zen it will be! As you may have noticed (and for those that haven't yet) our music system is very special. We have one main live jukebox, but everyone can hear just exactly the kind of music they want, from New Age to Jazz, from Hip Hop to the Blues, with Pop songs, Rock, Oldies, Orchestra, from harps and harpsicords to pianos and guitars - if you want it, it's here!
But the magic - oh yes, the magic of this system is twofold - first, all you have to do is think of the song you want to hear, or if nothing specific, just the kind of music you want - it works automatically to bring you listening pleasure in the swiftness of a thought.
And better yet - it doesn't matter how many people are in the Travelers Pub, or what kind of music they might be listening to - everyone hears their own music!! How is that for the latest in virtual entertainment? We do absolutely keep up with the latest trends here in the Traveler's Pub - all to make your visit the most enjoyable!
Oh, and Silence is also available on request. But don't forget, Silence can be extra nice if you add just a touch of birdsong or distant ocean waves - again, your choice as to what kind of Silence you want. :p
LouAnn, was the bagel like you wanted it? I wasn't sure which brand of cream cheese, but we do have the best here!
Vos, can I re-fill your wine? Or would you like something else?
Rolilli and BigH, I'm still waiting on that duet!
*Sits back with a cup of hot coffee, the first of the morning, Ahhh the best!*
*Picks up the special Gallery Browser Book and starts to Browse...*

Your bagels are the bestest here!! Now I should give you a recipe for Wild Wile's 5 alarm chilli!! to serve on cold days!
If I go try out Wild Wile's 5 alarm chilli,I think a glass water would be better
judee3d
7th April 2006, 03:58
Whew! My ears are smoking! That is some Wild Chili recipe!!
Maybe we should make it available on the menu?
Of course, we'd have to build a kitchen in the back. And hire a chef - or at least a chili cooker! Oh, and get a dishwasher for the dishes.
It can be done, just requires a little imagination, right? Anyone got any practice with designing kitchens - something that would fit nicely in the back room? We need your brain poser! Oops, typo (seriously!) I meant brain power!

Thanks for trying BigH, but when there is a wile 1 amongst us, you have to be faster than that!
So, Lou Ann, just trying to keep them from bigH, huh? I believe you Lou Ann! Of course I do. *smiles very wide with encouragement* Even if you are a wile 1 *wink* It's just your nature, after all...
*Stamps foot!!!* Now put them back on the table - right now!!
*stands tapping foot rather hard while LouAnn empties her pockets*
Are you sure that's all of them?
*Lou Ann looks up guiltily and reaches for the chocolate egg in her mouth*
Oh! Er, no, that's okay, you can keep that one! In fact, here, have another one! It's not your fault, you're just... well... living up to your name.
Now listen everyone, there are enough eggs for all! And... surprise of the day... Chocolate bunnies!!!
Not only that, but look at the lovely new artwork that Carolyn has brought to us! Thank you Carolyn that is a lovely gesture! *Hands Carolyn 2 chocolate eggs and 2 bunnies* psssst... don't forget to share those with ron!
And for our members who do not eat sweets, we have some colored easter eggs, hard boiled and decorated just for you! And the usual fare served here in the Travelers Pub.
May each and every one of you have a great Easter weekend, filled with blessings and joy!
Happy Easter All!

You serving Pork scratchings in this virtual pub? If so throw a pack over here please :)
For anyone not familiar with this delicacy I would suggest have a read Here (http://www.freshersfoods.co.uk/history.htm) - being a born and bred "Black Country" girl I was practically brought up on 'em.

Pork Scratchings - I've had them - when I lived in Texas, though I think they were called something else, fried pork skins, I can't remember exactly. But I do know they are delicious!
However after reading that little tale of how they were made (originally at least) my one thought is oh my, must be full of unsaturated fats!
However, since we now have our Virtual Food Distribution Liscence, I can happily offer you as many pork scratchings as you can eat!
Would you like something cold to drink with them? I imagine they will make you thirsty.

PORK RINDS!! Yep them is very good especially while sitll warm!!
Southern Fried Catfish!! Love it!!
Mouthwatering Fried Catfish
Ingredients:
Enough catfish fillets for 3 or 4 medium
pieces per person.
1 cup Yellow Corn Meal (This should be enough
to coat the catfish fillets)
2 teaspoons Lawry's Seasoned Salt
Crisco or your favorite vegetable cooking oil.
(Enough to cover the catfish).
(I use a deep fryer although a frying pan will
work just as well)
The secret to fried catfish is cooking
it at just the right temperature to
seal in the moisture and flavor. When
you first drop it into the grease you
want to seal it and then cook it.
You can use fresh catfish fillets, or
you can use the farm raised variety
available in the supermarket freezer section.
Rinse the fillets thoroughly and then
pat dry with a paper towel. If using fresh
catfish, skin the catfish and then wash
thoroughly. Pat dry with a paper towel.
Roll the fresh, catfish fillets in
a mixture of corn meal and Lawry's
Seasoned Salt. If you cannot find
Lawry's Seasoned Salt, then your favorite
seasoned salt will have to do. It's
just that Lawry's Seasoned Salt is a
southern favorite. A quick way to coat
the fish in the corn meal and season
mixture is to place it in a plastic bag
and just shake it.
Drop into deep fryer at 325 degrees.
Fry until it turns golden brown, about
5 minutes. Dump onto paper towel and
allow to drain.
Serve with collard greens, macaroni
and cheese, cole slaw and hush puppies.

Hi, Judee!!!
:)
I'm rather partial to Coors Lite myself.
I'm not sure if you've tried Coors beer in Europe? It was pretty much a regional beer (brewed in the Rocky Mountains area) for many years. They didn't use preservatives or something.
I first developed a taste for Coors when I was stationed in Oklahoma with the Army. And I was delighted when I could finally get it in Maine.

Aw, you're all full of beans! Now open that window, the nutz wouldn't dare escape, they've got it too good here - and I for one need AIR!!!!!
:airborne:
By the way, AE, of course I know what Coors is. Nope they don't have it here in Switzerland, but I was born and raised in Texas and went to the university there - I remember when coors became the "in" drink of the day.
Never was much one for beer though - but an occasional coors in a frosty mug - now that did have a certain charm.
By the way, if any of you feel insecure with the window open, let me know. I've got some monogramed white jackets that will wrap you up very nicely and prevent your wings from taking you out the window.
But it's better if you can just control yourselves - good discipline.
Besides, flying is allowed in our gallery, so if yu need to take flight, just go browse in there, it will take you away to wherever you want and you'll stil be right here at home!
Ahh... fresh coffee! Thank you to whoever prepared it, I've got my favorite mug right here!

Best Cat fish recipe I found is:
1-Nail fish to a pine board.
2-Skin the cat fish.
3- Put fresh homemade butter and lemon squeezin's on fish.
4-Bake in oven till done/flakie
5-Throw fish away and eat the board.
Works well for carp also.
Coors, remember that stuff, was at Amirillo going to tanker school and me and Coors had a few rounds of rollem throwem. So the green tea sounds good to me....
A 15 inch brook trout caught on a damsel fly right at sunset.....and of course it is released....only do/did catch and release....gotta keep them big boys out there....

Well, honestly now - what have all you folk been doing? Yakking away here in the Travelers Pub, I see - so you must surely be thirsty right? Don't forget to come by and get some refreshments!
Oh and as a special Happy New Year to All, our 2007 prices have been cut in half!!!!!
Now if I can just get my calculator to figure out what half of zero is, we're in business!

Lol, if I understand it, "mean" is your UK way of saying stingy? Nah! I'll never be mean.
Full rounds on the house! Everything served in the Travelers Pub is free - the only cost is a post and a smile!
And if you don't feel like smiling, that's okay too. We've got plenty of ways to drown your woes and get your smile back. ;D

You'd never be mean??? I believe you! I know you well enough that you wouldn't really do that!
I'm smiling - don't really know why, but I am, so that must be good! Oooh and I'm posting too! But I'm never around for very long these days; too many other things I have to attend to. For instance, the whole of yesterday's washing up awaits me right now! Grrrrrrr... And that's because I didn't feel well enough to do it yesterday. Isn't it just as well we employ a cleaner round here? Can you imagine the state my house would be in by now if we didn't? Ohh my! (Richard already does far too much, to be expected to do any more than he is doing btw.)
So as soon as I've finished my cold glass of water (I've just picked up from here - it was free!!!) and checked the forums, off I shall hop like a little bunny rabbit with a wasp chasing its little fluffy tail, and get that job done.
Yesterday, I reallllly over-tired myself by deciding to walk somewhere instead of getting my scooter out. Stupid thing to do! Got about 30 Metres along the path and felt sooo ill, and had the choice of the 30 Metres back to the car, or the next 30 Metres to the door of the place we were visiting (a gallery).
Well I decided on the latter, by which time I felt faint and too unwell to do anything. The place was completely boarded up and locked (I was relieved 'cos I couldn't have coped with meeting anyone at that point), so Richard left me there on my tripod stool (where I shivered and sulked and huffed and puffed [nope, and still the house didn't fall down :eat_arrow ], while he went off to investigate further. He then got the car to where I was, and told me the gallery had been moved into a modern building on the opposite side of the big country house where I was!!!
We eventually got to the right place and next, I had to climb stairs to get to this darned gallery! (I discovered, too late, that there was in fact a lift that I hadn't seen beforehand.)
This was all about a planning meeting for an exhibition I'm taking part in in June. Boy was I exhausted by the time we arrived, 10 minutes late by then. Ohh well.. Now I face the consequences of being so silly, but then you see, it was raining too, which was one reason I didn't want to go to the bother of getting the scooter out of the car.
Welllll that was an exciting little story, wasn't it???
Better get on now... :work:

Ah yes, wouldn't it be nice to just be able to stay in and do all of that virtually? No need for scooters, or special back braces, or whatever.
At least you can relax here in the Pub. Hope you were not too stressed by this and also by the kitty incident! I'm glad kitty made her way back home - it probably is a neighbor. Unless of course she has found a boyfriend, lol. I do hope you, um, took care of that potential? :p
Have some swiss chocolates, a cup of tea, and just relax for awhile...
:aww: :meditate: :aww:

Thanks, Judee - drinking water again! (I always forget my tea and let it get cold - yuck!!)
It was after midnight last night that my hubby went outside yet again, just in case Molly could be enticed home, and he caught sight of her towards the garage end of our drive. She did come to him this time, when he called her and showed her a pouch of kitty food! Whether she would have come on in through the cat flap is something we will not find out now, because after all the stress of that incident, we have decided to keep her in permanently. It's not the first time she's behaved in this way, so we kept her in for two weeks, but it made no difference at all as it turns out. She obviously is a wanderer, forgets all about home, doesn't even come back when she would normally be fed, which is wierd, and our fear is very much that she would either get injured somewhere, poisoned, or simply stolen! Such a shame that she behaves in this manner, because she really does love the outdoors! One of the problems all along with her, though, is that she has never responded to her name!
Ohh yes, we got both our kitties neutered when they were six months old. Our other one, the male one, is so scared of other cats that he prefers to stay indoors, and only goes out for short bursts, usually if Richard or I go outside. He is also mute! Poor little chap, he can't do a proper meow, neither can he growl. His meow is like a little squeek! But he chirps and he purrs very quietly when he's snuggling up to us. They are both sooo cute!
Today I am really feeling the effects of all that stress of worrying about her last night. Didn't sleep all that well, had worrying dreams, and awoke very early (for me).
