I´d like to load up Thumbnails that are different to the Pictures - sometimes its better - more interesting
do you know what i mean?

Do you mean really different, as in another image, or do you mean a small part of the image?

a part of the picture - that shows only a part
sometimes its funny - i made a thumb of my "bad Hartmut pic" it shows only the friendly Spermo - and when you click on it you will see the complete Story - now its not so thrilling to look to a Pic
I think it would be good to have the choice to chose different thumb or the pic in a ittle Version.

Thumbs are great - some of my Thumbs are better than the Pictures behind :O)

You do have the choice to upload a part of the image as thumbnail Franko! Just upload your thumbs as you see fit!

My mistake Franko. I forgot that the site itself generates the thumbs :cries:

Time to go to sleep :sprint:

I agree that would be useful to have - I like choosing the bit of a picture that I am going to turn into the thumbnail. I think seeing the whole picture in one go can be a bit offputting, and a carefully chosen thumb can draw in the crowds. :gallery:

Actually you can have a different looking thumbnail, you just can't select one when you upload the picture; you have to upload the picture first, then edit it. Once there you have the option of changing what picture you want as a thumbnail. (I just tested this function out to see if it works and it works fine.) It seems a bit backwards to have it done that way, so maybe we should ask if this option should also be included when you load the picture up.

Thanks for you. You are, as usual, very attentive to the job...no sooner do they ask than you seem to find the answer...I really like working on stuff with people that are as efficient as you are...another job well done my friend...

:aww: Aww shucks. It's not that fast really, I just remembered vaguely from when I was sorting out an animation problem and also editing what descriptions I type for my art I upload (I am a good speller really, I'm just a shocking typist) that I could change the thumbnails. I thought, hey, since I can do it for an animation, let me just check what happens for a picture, and lo, the answer presented itself.

Ask me a technical computer question and I can't help you much on my own, I have to ask. :stupid:

You do however have the process needed to GET the answer down pretty good...Some people don't even have a clue and, as we all know, at some sites you get the "how can anyone be so stupid" answer...or they talk to you like you're a ten year old....I, for one, am glad you're there when I have a question...so the compliment and my assessment of your ability holds true...

I have tried on more than one occasion to change my thumbnails as you described - see screen shot - when I have uploaded I go into edit and as you can see I can rebuild thumb or turn this way and that but no way can I figure out how to get just the portion of the image I uploaded to show as a thumbnail. If I click on the browse button it just uploads whatever picture i choose and overwrites the original. Do you see different options in the edit dialogue??

You have to actually save the part of your image that you want to show as a separate thumbnail pic, which you then upload by browsing to it on your computer. It will replace the default thumbnail created when you upload your image. This is the only way I knew of to have a separate thumbnail (either here or on any other art site), but being able to select a portion of the pic you have already uploaded to be your thumbnail is a neat idea. Dunno how you'd go about doing it though, code-wise.

Rumour - I actually did that - When I had completed my postwork I selected an area for a thumbnail and made that there and then - I did try that as I said above - I browsed to it - selected it and it replaced my picture. The browse button itselfd is not part of the thumbnail section in the edit window See scren shot - it says select new image or leave blank to use current. So how do I do it?

TeeHee!! I am glad I was not just being dense (or denser than normal perhaps) But I was starting to think that perhaps it was just me :lachen001 Yes, perhaps Glenn will have an idea up his sleeve for those artists that prefer to upload their own thumbnails. Paging Glennnnnnn........

Hi.

Okay, sounds like a good improvement -- although elsewhere I've seen people upload thumbnails that have absolutely nothing to do with their picture just to entice viewers. But if that's what you folks want, I will see what can be done to provide more flexibility in uploading thumbnails.

Bat Power :lachen001 Thanks Glen. I agree that some folks do like to entice viewers in with tasty thumbnails, that have absolutley zilch to do with the actual picture the viewer ends up looking at. Perhaps setting up some sort of house rule or a TOS would cover it?
