I have tested the 1.2 version but didn't find a reason to get rid of my C4D...

The new version to me is a better modeler and add Bryce I can do all most the same for about $20 .
How can you go wrong .
And I am not counting the free models .

Robert, you could join PC for $30, and simply remove the credit info from the automatic renewal for the next month. Meanshile you can get Hex2 for $2 and if you want, a lot of other PC $1.99 deals while your month plays out. If not, it's still Hexagon for $32.

One thing Hexagon 2 does now is UV mapping, displacement maps, and 3-d texturing. I don't know if C4d does all of that, and C4d has a close association with Body Paint - so you may well not need this.

But you gotta admit it's a bargain, lol! :w00t:

thats it - C4D 9.52 and my other software like Silo and Modo or just Max will do that, but for the people liking to pay for being a platinum member that is totaly ok!

Hi,

today I've played a bit with Hexagon 2, Modo 103 and Silo 142. My favourite 3d package is Cinema 4D (I like Max too, but C4D is a wonderful german application... ;) ). I wanted to get the feeling without too much mouse clicks or other long workarounds.
Hexagon 2 is imo the best of this three modellers. Modo has a few great functions but I think that Hexagon is the easiest program to learn and one of the fastest to use. If anyone is thinking about a new way to create models, tubes or anything else in the 3d-space and doesn't want to pay too much, so Hexagon is the best modeller (you need a renderer like C4D, povray or anything else).

Yes, I'd say Hexagon's only handicap is that it doesn't render. It may be cheap, but if you don't have a program that renders, it doesn't help.

Though I guess the objects could be imported into Poser or Daz Studio or even Bryce and rendered there? And Daz Studio being free... It could make an interesting combination.

I'm not sure how the texturing works in Hexagon (still haven't installed my copy yet) but I assume they must translate into a usable format, something generic that can be used in Daz Studio. Templates, changed to .jpg or .tiff if neccessary.

Not a bad deal.

Hexagon can export for example *.3ds and *.obj files. I think that every 3d package can import them. I prefer 3ds-files in other packages because of the possibility to import cameras and lights too, but the obj-format is ok too. For texturing I use Cinema because of my normal workflow using psd-files from photoshop including alpha-masks and so on...
