How do I get a picture from a jpeg not just to show up in Bryce, but to darn well stay there so I can work on it? (This is Bryce 5.5 I'm trying to work in, and wanted to make something a little more of one of my fractals with it.)
So far I've got nowhere at all!! :cries:

Henry, I'm sorry I thought it was clear, but maybe not as Chris didn't understand either.
What I want to do is to take a picture I've already made from a fractal, probably in jpeg format, and bring it into Bryce so that I can do some interesting things with the colours and lighting in there. I get the impression also that it should be possible to even get a 3D effect.
I did open up a jpeg into Bryce, but then as soon as I clicked on anything else at all, the picture just disappeared! I don't yet know how to make the changes I want to make even if the picture did stay on the screen, but I did at least want to fiddle with it and try some things out.
I hope that makes it a bit clearer?

you can import any pic - lets make a ball or what you want.
then go to top to where a new bar will come up - you will see edit 2d pic this is where you import your pic to use - it will be a terture on the ball or what ever - any thing you make - ball - water - sky
or you can bring it in as a 2d pic ( go up to the 4 arm fidger at the top - just under it is the 2d pic plane - click it - you will see a 2d plane in your screen - this is where your fractal pic will go - then you can mess with it after its on your 2d plane )

If I understand the question, you have to press the render button each time you want to see the effects of any change, in a scene. Watching the little nano-preview screen in the upper left helps. Also, the "cube" icon on the left side of the screen shows different display modes. If you've rendered your scene at least once, clicking the cube once will show the rendered scene as a background. Clicking it twice allows you to draw a rectangle around a part of your scene and render that by clicking the bead.

Of course if its 2D it has to be angled towards the camera you are using as well.

Aww thank you Henry, I looked and it's great! Now I'm wondering where the little green thing is going to turn up next, lol! (Maybe in a dream....)
I'm having a bad day today! I woke up at 3.30am and couldn't get back to sleep, so got up, and am just getting through by doing a bit here, going off for a snooze, then doing a bit more... I hate days (or rather nights) like that when I just can't sleep!!! The body is willing and the mind won't turn off, know what I mean? lol!
