Hi,

take a look at this program called 'Mudbox' - it seams to be very similar to ZBRush but with a very lower learning curve and a User Interface not so special like ZBrush has.

Here is a link to get a trial version: http://www.mudbox3d.com/

I will test it but I still cannot wait until 15th May arrive, the launch of ZBrush 3.

It's great to see that there is an alternative to Zbrush for this kind of modeling. I mean in the upper price categories still in reach for professionals. COmpetition is good, it stirs things up, keeps the leaders on track to making things even better.

For artists like starbing artists and students or first-time beginners wanting to try things or retirees unable to justify this level of financial commitment, there are a few other tools that go into the area of modeling/sculpting by drawing shapes and fiddling with displacement maps or volumetric data. Here are two others:

Curvy 1.5 - http://www.thebest3d.com/curvy
Archipelis - http://www.thebest3d.com/archipelis
