Is anyone into joint displays of your combined talents??... Do you want to see what others see into your artwork??...
I myself love to have others use the Terrains that I make as backgrounds to showcase characters and objects they choose and incorporate into them...http://www.innertraveler.com/publicgallery/showphoto.php?photo=7677&password=&sort=2&cat=all&page=1 is an excellent example and was produced when Engel47 used one and this is the results...
Many kinds of projects are possible due to the almost infinite ammount of variables in combining talents from so many different types of programs..
Hopefully, for those too shy to ask a person to collaborate with them, we can start a list of people that want to work on "doubles" or on team projects...and maybe if we asked real nice we can pursuade or site leaders to give it a section of it's own in the forums and galleries both.
But I am ahead of myself, so I am asking if anyone here WANTS to work with others and want to take a chance on asking them to work with you... the effects of seeing what your partner does will no doubt be a learning experience for many....
I can even invision a Site project, maybe someday, that we all have a chance to contribute to.....
If you are interested just reply and if you know who you want to work with now is the chance to say so... DON'T BE SHY......
OK me first then, I would like to work with some good character artists, maybe develope some good scenes with people and animals in my otherwise empty lands done in Voyager... My credentials and portfolio are here or can be downloaded as a PDF file from my signature link...
If you see anything you can use let me know.. I am open to your using them..It would, for me, be an honor to have my worlds host your players..DW

Great Idea DW. I am very happy to be able to use some of your marvellous images as backgrounds in Poser. And likewise - If you want something in particular to add to one of your renders, shout up and I will render it for you. Tell me what you want and it's yours

These are best when imported into Poser AS Backgrounds...Poser does NOT seem to blur or change the Background when rendered again in Poser...it also gives you a lot better control over placement and exact Posing during your work done in Poser...
If you have an idea in mind for a picture and you know what you want as to a POV and Color scheme or have a particular scene in mind let me know..
I will be glad to churn out a few for someone to choose from....
I love collaborations and as you can see by the "View-Comment) count, they seem to go over very well...congratulations to Engel47 and Liewald on the way folks just literally ate up your interpretaions and additions...It adds a whole new dimension to my stark and Lifeless worlds... I could put Poser character into them also but I love seeing what others picture in them more...it is a thrill for me to have anyone even consider them good enough to want to have them in your pictures....
All of my pictures are open for anyone to use as long as it is respectfully and tastefully done....although here at IT I probably didn't even need to say that..
So Have fun and hope to see what you all can do with these...I am going to try and make a .pdf with Artmatic Voyager Tutorials in it... A study from "Learning the Interface" to "Advanced Terrain and Texture making with Artmatic Pro for Use with Voyager"... might take me a while...If anyone is good at Adobe Acrobat and wants to help make tutorials then PLEASE let me know....I am going to go through the Manual and ALL of the practice exercises with my own settings and rewrite the lessons myself to make them a little easier to grasp by beginners...Some of it must be explained further and Illustrated using my own experiments... See ya soon....DW

HI DW - yes you are correct - Poser can import background images and one can render over them - BUT - if one renders at large sizes, which I often do for postwork, the background image can, and often does suffer.
What I normally do is the render in Poser, save the render as a Tiff, open in photoshop, load alpha selection, copy and paste, then create a new layer and drag it down under the alpha layer, I then select the background image I want to use - Select all, copy, close the BG image, make sure the empty layer is selected on my poser render, and then paste. I can then resize and position the background exactly where I want it with no loss of detail. Often I only want part of the background image that I begin with, so I resize it up and shuffle it around until I get only want to be able to see in the final image.
I often import the image in to poser at the start of the process so that I get the lighting right on the model, making sure it matches the background I am going to use, then clear the background before rendering, and make sure that I uncheck render over background picture.

Generally I tend to import the background pic into poser to make sure I get the lighting right. Usually I then render over the BG but on occasion I will render over a neutral BG and then convert the image into a corel object and paste it onto the BG in corel.
I find the most difficult thing to get right however is postworking just enough to hide the joins but not enough to destroy the impact of what I'm trying to do.
But then again this is an artform and not a science!!!

If we could get the idea off the ground, and start a "Collaborators Corner" Who would be interested in sharing their works for others to use??
We need to find out just how many people would be interested in this type of gallery/project.
If you produce images that you would be happy for others to use as backgrounds, as DragonWizard does now, then please add your name here. Also perhaps even Poser renderers - you could pose and render a character - no background, post it and then others could use that figure to complete a work of their own. And of course the other modellers and artists out there, both 3D and 2D, are you interested?? Lets hear your voices. :beerchug:

I have a backlog of over 500 pictures that will serve as backgrounds...I offer them all into the service of this project... OK guys... we need to see those replies... Glenn is determining what to do about the request for this Category to be added to the forums and Galleries... Make your voice heard now.... If you are interested in this type of work you should speak up at this time.. also, go out to the people that are your friends here at the galleries and forums and encourage them t come to this thread and comment... If you want something bad enough you should be willing to support THAT idea....so PLEASE, come and comment here... I would really like to work with a bunch of you....
ALSO... start thinking about a name for this section should Glenn OK it quickly, as we are going to ask for suggestions on naming it ....and if you want to be one of the first to post in this category you need to find a partner to make a picture with....I and most of the mods are willing I am sure and some of the artists i have talked to as I comment artwork have expressed a real interest in working with others and they all hope this works out...
We shall be the only site to dedicate a section to Collaborations and team efforts.... this will set us apart and slightly above sites that don't offer this service... Step up to the plate my friends....BE HEARD....DW :beerchug:

OK There are a number of ways as I see it. . If someone needs some characters for a pic or a vue background I'm more than willing.
I think what we really need is a project to think about. Maybe some of the writers could come up with something. I do have a couple of writers who are after me to do something for them. Maybe I could get them involved if anyone is game for it .

Go for it Dave - the more the merrier, and the more ideas we have bouncing around in here - the better :gallery: Perhaps a few more of us may be tempted to "branch out" into other spheres :)

When I was in high school, the Art and English departments organized a joint project between their classes, in which the English students provided a writing segment. These were distributed to the Art students, who created an image based on their interpretation of the writing. If people are interested, something similar could be part of the collaborations. It could work both ways: images created based on writing, as well as writing inspired by images.

Now that's a great Idea...and actually there is no limit on the creative ways people can add together and my guess is that the Whole will definitely be greater than the sum of the parts...and I like the idea of if it's posted in the collaborater section it can be taken further by another artist...
Has anyone ever sat with others and one person whispers a small story to a person that tells it to another that tells it to another and so on, so that in the end the original story has given way to a whole new story or is altered to a degree that it bears little resemblance to the original...well, I think a lot of these will be like that...we are probably in for some interesting surprises doing this....

As one of the (few) 2D artists here, I offer my works (http://www.innertraveler.com/publicgallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=261) to whatever experimentation you wish to do. I include in tthis permission all the artkwork in my gallery. All I ask is only to notify me after that, just to please my curiosity about the outcome. Anyway, despite my little free time, I'm open to help whoever could be interested at my kind of drawing. Peace to all the innertravelers.

Definitely interesting.. most interesting..
I have several images in mind that would need Poser characters and altough I have Poser since version3, (now5) I get nervous after 10minutes fighting hopelessly with the aviator guy to have a view of what I want.. and in the end my character becomes an undescriptible mess of twisted broken eggshell limbs :cries:
In counterpart, I believe I have some modeling abilities I'd gladly share .. any kind of object (apart from humans or mammals) for custom props. also I have X-frog which is a powerful toy for creating organic shapes or realistic plants...
I shall follow this thread for sure :)

Tell me what you want, and how you want it, and I will attempt it for you ;-)
I have V3, D3, S3, and M3, with loads of textures, morphs and clothing, the millennium kids, and the new Teens (though not much in the way of accessories for them yet) Mill dog, horse, cat, Big Cat (laughable comic creature that he is), and dragon, plus sundry other animals, buildings and props.

Just a little bow to Compugraf and Macrey18 for the team spirit they have shown on a collaboration at http://www.innertraveler.com/publicgallery/showphoto.php?photo=7831 which I must say turned out great... as an incentive, I for one am adding bonus points when I rate collaborations.. Points for each artist and bonus for the collaborative spirit they show... take me a story and put it in a picture and you will please me to no end.. and when two of you get together and stir what you do into one effort you will make me absolutely overjoyed...I have SEEN what you all can do together and it is (and I resort to that word so many find irksome) absolutely AWESOME what quality I see... It seem that both artists are trying very hard to not mess up what the other did...and if this is an example then I would say they have MORE than accomplished that... The whole is more than the sum of the parts... My hat is off to you (Compugraf and Macrey18) and may you both have very many of these beautiful works...(DW Bows very low out of respect to you two)
By the way folks, it appears this idea is taking flight and is definitely a subject that many here are interested in.. The responses and offers in this thread are proof that this is a much needed and very overlooked source of talents...Can you imagine Abrai Barnabas and Lee Phung cooperating on a work.. with the talent at characters they both have it would be an amazing piece...
Now I would like to address the idea of a large multi artist project for this site or at least the ones that WANT to participate in it... I would like to know if anyone has any ideas for a joint team work that might be an ongoing thing and flexible enough to have different artists working in many combinations over a period of time... An example: a news letter for IT but an Artistic one.. not just a form like from some sites I won't name... but a lovely or powerful set of art pieces that would act as the backdrop to the new items in the newsletter... This is ONLY an example of what I am proposing and the project might be some other ongoing project... So are there any ideas and how can we best set out to do this... I want us to really try and raise the bar as far as being a progressive and attractive site compared with other Gallery/Forum sites...NO OTHER SITE that I have seen offers these options to their clientelle...and you folks deserve it.. You are the cream of the crop and should be presented as such...

we need to say that a link word should be added when loading the image - in the section for "keywords" add the name of each artist and also the word "collaboration" these then become clickable links, with the names leading directly to the artist gallery and if someone clicks the word "collaboration" it will bring up every image with that word in the key words or title. For an example see http://www.innertraveler.com/publicgallery/showphoto.php?photo=7717&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 and if you click on the either of the key words you will see what I mean. :sherlock:

I am one of the writers Liewald mentioned- I have some stories in mind but need characters to bring forth the idea more clearly; I think in movie terms at times-what person could play the role and visualize that person. Engel and Liewald if you are interested I can send you some of my work.
Let me know

We now have a place to put our doubles and team efforts as many have written saying how interested they were in this type of work...now we will start filling this gallery with pictures done through a collaborative effort...
from this point on all team efforts will be posted here.. a new forum and gallery is ours to use and show what we are capable of together.....to all those that wished for this.. this is our gift to you... now, lets fill it up with some of that talent out there...DW

No problem Dave - this is already underway with a couple of artists having already contacted me about characters. The only problem encountered so far is the Daz3D EULA. Poser users cannot morph a character and then simply send the charatcter to the requester - that is not allowed. If the requester already has the Poser character in question then the pose and the morph can be sent to the requester, but then if they had Poser themselves they would not need be asking in the 1st place. The best I could suggest was that I produce the morphed character they required, posed in the way they wanted and dressed in whatever they wanted - render that image at whatever size they wanted and then send them the render in the required format so that they could use a paint programe to then do whatever they wished with it. Anybody have anything to add to that?

I was thinking more of the character artist merging the work to the background but making premasked renders is just as easy.. and less work for me rofl

The only problem I have is that Voyager being fractal based and totally non polygonal does not allow for the import of models.. if it did I would have tons of life in my works...it would be almost impossible for me to take a model and fit a background to it.....Some things like dragons and birds that are not touching the ground are simple for me to add...

Hi there, I am going to post a collaborative project on CG Networks within the next few weeks. I will also post the project here too. Do you know of any other good 3D Forums where I can recruit talented CG Artists?
I am a graduating film student in the UK and I have been working on/off in the industry since the age of 16 on documentaries (STL), music videos (MTV) and short films (Various). I am always working on personal IND projects and I am very lucky to be surrounded by industry professionals. I have been sharing my new 3D Animation ideas with successful scriptwriters. They have helped me to develop the story and as soon as I am confident that the script is ready to go into production then the project/thread will be posted on these forums.
I work hard and I dream big. I am aiming to write, direct, produce and edit the animation and submit it to festivals worldwide and even submit for the oscars. :omfg:
I am looking for a network of artists who share the same dream. To produce a quality short with a solid story and amazing 3D realism. To then submit the work and get as much exposure as humanly possible.
There will be absolutely no prejudice on ability and status etc... Also, It doesn't matter whether you contribute a fully rigged, textured model or just an eyebrow for a background model. This project is going to be about getting involved and combining talents to produce something extra-ordinary over an estimated 18 month period.
It is simple: the best work will be picked in order to produce the best film but constant feedback from the team will help encourage other artists who may not have as much experience. Any contribution to the project (however small/big) will get a credit on the film. If you are truely dedicated to the film then you will receive greater benefits like a full production kit upon completion. (Contents TBC... but something along the lines of: Script, DVD, Select concept art/storyboards and an A2 Poster)
Roles: (Web designer, 3D Modelling, textures, D-matte artists, lighting, rendering, animation and maybe more concept artists too). I already have strong ideas on sound recordists, musicians and so on.
This is a lot to take in but please let me know if you have any questions, ideas, contacts, resources or comments that could benefit this ambitious project.
Thank-you
Darrell

Now that's what I'm talkin' about!! This is going to become a hot item as more projects happen...What do you all think about a monthly Adventure series from the fine artists of IT...Like a news letter that other sites have but what I propose is a story line, Some reoccuring characters and some of the finest scenes around...I would like to hear thoughts on the possibility of enough cooperation to make it happen... then if we can come together we need writers to submit stories, character artists to develope (with the writers) real personalities to be developed as we go... Scenery and terrain artists to do the backgrounds unless the group can do it all in one program...My thoughts would be 2 continuing story lines per issue...if anyone can add sound or music that is appropriate and story lines that have impact and real drama or humor or whatever... Anyone could submit stories or character submissions and voted on like AOM is...fresh artists could then find it possible to join in all of the time....
This would qualify as a team or site effort... If we have a good response then I ask for partipants to contact the mod in their particular Graphic discipline about what your contribution to the project could be... Mods could submit works to team leaders (Writers team, character team and so on as needed) and the vote is on.....anyone interested...???????
ONLY those that are truly serious need to apply at this time for a core group and we build from there.. I would say Writers FIRST.....lol..DW :reading:
