Is there a "prefered" format for these images?
What about size? Dots per inch?
Are there to be any set standards or will it be a "take what's there" deal?

If we agree to team up with someone do we just copy their image from the gallery and go to work?

Maybe we should decide on a few basic guidelines so everyone is clear on how this is to work.

I suppose these depend on what the envisioned finished piece is going to be. if it's for screen or multimedia it's a completely different kettle of fish from a high def print. This is something the people involved should sort out before they start a joint project. More important st this stage i think is to make sure that we use crossplatform compatible standards as people are using mac's windows and linux for example and we need to bear this in mind when doing joint work

Hi SI - I suppose it depends on who you team up with - and what they decide - I have already contacted a couple of artists and have asked their permission to use selected pieces from their galleries - whereas DW has already said that we can use whatever we want from his, so If I saw one of his that inspired me I would just save it to my hard drive and get to work and then PM him to let him know I had uploaded an image using one of his backgrounds. There is no hard and fast rule here - it is dependadnt upon individuals. :) But I would say that everything needs to be crystal clear - for instance if I contact an artist asking for permission to use a particular piece, I would not then assume that gives me permission to use another piece by the same artist without his permission - unless he said originally that I could use anything I liked. :gallery:

If you have a work that you think could be used by others then maybe put that into the description on the pictures posting...it will EARMARK it for future use by others....

One should ALWAYS ask if it doesn't have this earmark....or if prior permission hasn't been given in the Collaborator's forum...

Always be respectful of the partner art you are using (Never use it to ridicule or defame anything in a manner that would be deemed malicious by the original artist...by doing so you despoil his work as your partner...

Those that collaborate on Nude images need not read further as you now have your own gallery and your pictures will be re assigned to that area (please however try to put nudes in the Nude Gallery on your own...be courteous to those with fragile sensitivities, as they are due respect also..

If you see someone whose work you wish to join in with, please PM them so they don't feel any pressure, publicly, to support our efforts as it is always voluntary and not compulsively required...

As for format and DPI and such... that is a private matter between the artists that are involved in the work and CAN ONLY be worked out by those same artists...there is no way for us to know the possibilities that you folks see in your vision of what the artwork should be...if someone wants to work on a project they will at that point try to accomodate the venture with something that fits the bill you all work out...

I think respect is the KEY theme in all of this... we all want to feel that we are not joining into anything of a harmful nature toward anyone and if it is it will probably meet the scrutiny of those "powers that be" which are the final word in those situations...

At this point I give up the podium to another person in hopes that we discuss and refine this listing of how we want this to work so all involved can know they are respected and their feelings taken into consideration...DW :work:
