I have the impression that submission of new works and visits to the site may be decreasing as compared to a couple of months ago... just a wrong impression or there is statistical basis for it? thanks rokko

Submissions (I assume you mean gallery uploads) did decrease when it was changed from 2 uploads per 24hrs to 1, (which effectivley halved the number of uploads). The membership list is however growing quite strongly with over a 1000 members now. Was there any particular reason for asking or simple curiosity?

curiosity. I am not the kind of man who likes to show his work in a room which is going to get empty :-)

No worries Rokko, the site is still growing, with new members joining on an almost daily basis. :community

I have to agree...the forum traffic here is barely worth calling "traffic".
I blame the random gallery at the top of the forum page...I can't count the number of times I've come to the forums and seen an image at the top of the page that I've never seen and want a better look...so off to the gallery I go...then back to the forums...and there's another image "I've gotta see". When this continues long enough...I no longer have time to check out the forums. Sure it helps with the comment count...but it kills forum traffic.
The problem is...if I don't go look when I see it, the next time I come back to the forums page, the images have rotated and I may never find that image again. Perhaps if the artists name appeared under the image...I could make a note of who the artist is, check out the forums, then go look at the artists gallery to find the image I wanted to see. I think in the long run it would help the forums pick up some traffic and it would in return send people to someones "gallery" instead of an individual image which should increase peoples gallery views as well.

I dont think the forum traffic is entirely bad, i was joking about the vacation :)
Im here to stay.
Maybe i am a bad moderator???
Im ok with it, I know it might take a while for the vue forum base to grow,
or maybe people just dont want to talk. lol
afterall i NEVER post at renderosity forum. the forum layout there is awful, its not even a forum.
I am patient, and i know sooner or later people start posting and make my moderating job interesting :p

*LOL* Glad it isn't just me that does that :disbelief I am exactly the same - mind you I do eventually remember what I originally came for, and get on down to the forums. :work:

Hmm, perhaps it would be a good idea to not only have the list of images at the top of the forums but to perhaps also have a 'headlines' page in the galleries that links you to the hot threads in the forums. I don't know how feasible this is, I'll have a look into it if people think it's a good idea. That way we can attract some gallery visitors over to the forums more. :mwahaha:

I somewhat Agree with the random image bar at top of forums page.
I tend to click on the image and drift away :)
BUT, i wouldnt entirely delete this idea, in fact its a really good idea.
I think if possible, the random pic bar should appear at the top and/or bottom of the main gallery.
So we have our regular posted images, then a bar of random pics.
Random pics idea is really good because it lets people view images posted long ago they might have missed.
or Better yet... Maybe start a forum thread called RANDOM IMAGES?
with an entire gallery (like the main gallery) full of nothing but random images,
I for one would be visiting that thread. :)
so those are my suggestions.

I don't think we should delete it either...I love the random images. Like you say it shows images that are buried deep in the gallery that a lot of people would not see if they just started going thru the gallery 1 image at a time.
The downfall is the lack of information with the image. As it stands now...if you want to view an image that catches your eye...you have to go look right then. If you don't the images rotate and you might never see it again. If the artists name is under the image...a person could make a mental note "Cool pic by SeigMancer I'll have to check it out" continue with the forums then still be able to find the image they wanted to see by going to your gallery.

...or perhaps a "Daily Randomizer"...a single page of images that rotate every 24hrs instead of each time you view the page. That would give a new set of images a chance to be spotlighted for an entire day.
