Poser is great - but...

I like the artwork people can create with poser - I like the feminine style and the sexy pictures. One thing I must say: I'm painting more than 30 years now and I'm artworking with bits and bytes since more than 10 years, but I must say that the human head is one of the greatest things you can try to manage... and poser is a program helping a lot, but only a lot! When I see the face of a poser-made woman I see that poser did it! The rest is very realistic but the face is only poserlike... can you tell me the reason?

A lot depends on the texture applied, some of the high res photo realistic textures work wonders. A lot also depends on the morphing - poser faces tend to be fairy symmetrical, and nature rarely is. The last thing I reckon is the lighting. Good lighting can do an awful lot for poser models. I haven't cracked it myself, but I can keep trying ;-)

I saw a portrait at Renderosity the other day that blew my socks off! :wow:
It was by Arwenone and was done in memory of the terrible events in south east asia so she had disabled comments - but the image was the most non-poserlike portrait I've seen in quite a while with lots of photographic effects and incredible textures! Go take a look if you have time :)
