PS: What does it mean at the bottom where it says "stick this thread after posting message"?
Rumour

It means you can make the thread 'sticky' (i.e. it will always stay at the top of the thread listings)
Congratulations, SkyBlueHope, welcome to the club. :boogie:

I have one question for now. If I invite "friends" or new people here, do they have to register to be able to view threads and/or post first? :)

Thanks Patt (((((hugs)))), BUT, a forum is only the members it consists of, at least those who participate....
It can be fun I think, a challenge to make interesting "stuff" (for lack of better expression coming to mind at moment) LOL
Hope you'll come and "chat" it up here more, and Happy New Year, again!! LOL ;)

Reg what kind of animations do you want to see here and do we post them here or in the galleries?? After reading the size limit it is going to be a bit of a problem making them that size and still have the correct affects what is the upload size?? I know 199x199 referring to the weight of it.

Hi!!
You can post most any type animations (I believe). You can upload them into your gallery, and select "animations" as the section. It should tell you somewhere in there about the size and file types (I think). I'd have to upload myself to see what it says exactly, and I can't do that for another 20 hours or so...
But, you CAN post images/animations in the forums, click on the icon in the toolbar above the post box that says when you hover over it "insert image", but you'll have to have it uploaded someplace else that acts as a image server. For instance, I can upload animations onto Homestead.com, and it stays an animation. Then copy the url properties from there after it's uploaded, and then come here, click the "insert image" icon, and just paste in the pop up box the url you copied of the animation you uploaded from HOmestead, or wherever.
Am I making sense? LOL :) It's ok if you tell me that I'm not making sense... ;)

Reg

You're free to upload animations of any size, any dimensions, although we do ask you to be sensible about it. No 1G+ files please! Lol! I tend to keep mine below 5M wherever possible, and upload .mov, .avi or .wma, although you can upload mpg as well, and this is simply consideration for those people who don't have a high bandwidth or may not have the same codecs as I do. No point in uploading something if only a few people can see it, right?
If you need any further help I'm sure either Reg or myself can help, or even some of the other wonderful people here.
My thanks to you for assisting with the animation forum, Reg is doing a wonderful job of attracting interest here :smooch: I'm sure the forum hasn't been as lively and interesting as it has in the last few days! :bounce:

I'm just trying!!! ;)
I just now finished watching a repeat of the Cup of Paris, part of the Grand Prix Series. Johnny Weir was the very last skater, and I tried to get some original screen caps of him...a few came out pretty good for an amateur like me, I'll post them later!! :)
That's okay right?

Thanks for the help I had seen in one of the forums it could not be any larger then 199x199 unless I mis understood but nothing regarding kb or meg size
What I make is strickly gif form so I may not be able to post here then. You tell me and I'll go by that.
Thanks for your information much appreciated

Ah, gifs are a different story. The way I understand it, your full sized gif image can be size any you want it to be, but we've had some troubles with thumbnails not loading and think perhaps that having gifs over 199x199 could be what's causing it. So until we've sorted out the problem properly, we ask that you restrict the dimensions of your gif animation to this. Actualy file size shouldn't be a problem though. :D Hope that helps clear things up.

You might want to double check this...
Images, including animated GIFS are "images"...and will upload as you described PLUS you can get around the 199 by 199 pixel limit by uploading to the forum instead of the gallery.
http://www.sitesled.com/members/sanityimpaired1/Video/face.gif
Animations, on the other hand, such as .avi, .mov, .wma's are considered multimedia files and are not seen by the computer as "images" and will not upload to the forums using the "insert image" tags.
You "can" however leave a "link" to your animation in the forum which will take you to the site where the animation lives.

Hope this helps...

Thanks Snow...glad you liked it.
I used to do a lot more animating...but due to such slow dialup speeds it was just too much of a pain in the butt to deal with them so I kinda got away from it. Now that I'm on a DSL connection I'll have to get back into it. Maybe we can all get together and come up with some kind of simple challenge to get us all into the animation craze.

Okay, I think I didn't answer this post, and I apologize, if I did, I apologize too...lol
Anyway, we/you/I can start threads with any topic you'd like to discuss. Fun threads, or threads about specific programs, or whatever....just let's all be nice and "clean" (kids might read it..lol), and remember to always respect one another, and also remember, that art, like beauty, is simply in the eye of the beholder..
There is no one better than the other (although some are better with certain programs than others), but in general, noone is "better" than anyone else, just individual, know what I mean, jelly bean? ;)
About the size of animations, on here, I think the size limit of the animation uploaded into your gallery is substantially larger than the limit allowed on, for example, Renderosity.
I find Jasc Animation Shop very versatile in allowing you to make "animations" without having to reduce the actual size, and the limits will still be "uploadable" for here and on RR, in the galleries that is.
When posting in the threads in the forum(s), I think it can be as large as the size of the server you uploaded the animation onto and then posted into the post in the thread!! :)
