View Full Version : What are YOUR short/long term goals/aspirations?
Sky Blue Hope

I'd, (personally), would love to have the latest hardware/software, to create my own streaming videos, even films, a "streaming" media presentation.
Animations and "slideshows" (more or less), to music are fun, but my short/long term goal as an aspiring graphic artist, is to move ahead into the above mentioned category. Into the actual creating of digital video onto pc into a format I could then use to be internet "friendly"...know what I mean? LOL ;)
Happy New Year if anyone who cares reads this, (feeling like the only one online tonight...does that make me a "loser" now?....LOL) :)
Anyway, what is anybody's short/long term goals/aspirations. Whether it be in media presentation, or whatever!!!

Ultimately? Anyone ever see this critter on a movie, dunno if you'd know. Was about a guy and this ring that was supposed to be the ultimate doom for the world or something, everyone was chasing it but no one really knew who had it... had lots of weird critters in it, some pretty neat special effects and such... lessee what was it called.. Ring of Lords...? Company of the Ring...? something like that. Anyway, it completely created this character from CGI and animated it, as well as all the other critters in there as well, was made by a company called Cricket? Wasp? I'd love to be working on something like that, be it making models texturing, lighting... but ultimately animating. Got a bit of a way to go with that yet though.
That's long term anyway. Short term, I'd just love to finish up one of the many ideas I have in my head. Trouble is I think there's a time bandit around here somewhere....

Hi, LOL..
There are three parts to that, at least the movie.
The first is "Lord of the Rings-The Fellowship of the Ring"
The second is "Lord of the Rings-The Two Towers"
And the third (the one that won Oscar for best picture), is "Lord of the Rings-The Return of the King".
Hope that helps you, and Happy official New Year!!
Love,
Reg

oh... OH! So THAT's why this fellow was sitting upon one of the theatres in town. ;) I thought it was just because Orlando was in town, silly me. heheh

I have a series of photos I've taken that I've been meaning to put into a collection of some sort, including Gollum, a cave troll, (in two separate areas), Ringriders (on horseback and on Fell beasts), an arrow in a building, Rohan riders and an envelope with the ring. Also have one of Lurtz but it's a bit dark so not sure how much PSing I will have to do to make it up better. For once I was lucky enough to live in the home of Middle Earth/Weta Workshop where the majority of the film was made (obviously not all the location shots).
Unfortunately I wasn't actually a part of the movie, though I do know of quite a few who were, but being host city for the premiere of Return of the King still takes the cake for me. And if I'd managed to get out of class 15 minutes earlier that day I might even have been able to take a shot of Orlando instead of only getting a 1/2 second glimpse of part of his head. (Darn being so short!) :FIREdevil

WOW...host city? Is that in New Zealand, or where would that host city be?
As far as the other programs you mention, I haven't a clue about them, wish I did though...LOL

Wellington, NZ is where Weta Workshop and Weta Digital are, I used to live about 5 minutes walk from their studio. Weta Workshop makes all the props (swords costumes etc.) and Weta Digital does all the CGI (Balrogs, Gollum...) which is where I'd ideally like to end up. Of course, I have heard that they work insane hours.

Oh, I see now, sorry, my mistake, they are places, and NOT software programs!!! LOL
Hey, I kind of "joined up" with Greenpeace online!! This is an organization which started in New Zealand, and is based there still. Ever hear of "Death of a Warrior"? It was a Discovery Times Channel documentary about the Greenpeace ship that got bombed by some (or two), people. Can't remember all the details about that story though, but it inspired me to check them out online...

Someone posted this pic of figure skater Johnny Weir, in one of my now two Johnny threads on my Graphic Artists United II forum, hadn't seen this one before, so I just really wanted to "share"...LOL
Tried uploading it onto MSN forum, but apparently, it didn't link from there to here. Although, it does link from MSN to worldcrossing forums, so, go figure!!! This particular url for the pic is good only until Jan. 13th. I tried my permanent pic upload account at photobucket.com, but apparently the site is either too busy, or temporarily down for now. AND, for the record, if only I were at least 15 years younger....(41 now) he'd be my short term "aspiration" for sure. Never liked the "look" of any figure skater as much as I have liked Johnny's "look" so far this season. In fact, I think I've never even heard of him until just this season....LOL ;)

Hi all :spotlight
OM I just wrote a long thing ..... and then it said I was not logged in ... and then I lost it all ....... :work:
So I try again !
2005 will be a year with a lot happening for me ....... I am going to immigrate from Denmark to the US. And get married with my fiancé there.
We are waiting for our papers to go through ..... and that can take anything from 3 - 8 months ... would be great to know more specific :) as I have to sell my appartment and get a lot of other stuff done and prepared as you can imagine.
I have also started my own company where I do graphics, webdesign and webhosting. Hopefully I will be able to live from that. So far we have not done much to advertize it ...... so we have not had that many customers yet.. So that is another goal ..... doing more to get it up and running.
A constant goal is to get better and better at my art.
Another goal I have is to get to learn Poser .... and get good at it too :)
When I finally arrive in the US .... we are also to find a home .... and get that decorated and all .... I really look forward to that !
So it will be a busy year .... but bet I got more goals ...... these were just the ones that immediately came into mind !
Hugss zoozee .... aka Susanne :) :floating:

And my Hubby is a Realtor Agent so we could be a lot of help to you. I am so happy for you both! You will love it here. It isn't a reserved country, it is very crazy here, but a lot of wonderful things to have a good life! If I can help you in any way please don't hesitate to write me. Hugss, and glad to see you here  Patt

Welcome EVERYBODY!!!! ((((((((hugs))))))))))))
Quite happy and excited that you've posted here, that always lifts my spirits when I come online and some people actually respond to things that you ask them, and it's quite interesting to read everybody's reply to the question of this thread.
Snow Angel, I can help you get started with some basic animation stuff.
You have to download the free software programs (like I did), to start, and find your own way (programs) from there.
Try using "Jasc Animation Shop", or for text type stuff, I have fiddled around with "ULead Cool 3D", also Windows Movie Maker is very easy (which came installed on my pc by default.) I'll try finding links in a little bit for free animations software downloads and post them for you!!
Zoozee, welcome, wherever you live/move to!!
ClassyLady, your Poser's are awesome, I'll need help from you in that area, why don't you upload some onto this site?
Eres: I love you!! What more can I say? LOL ;)
And Artzy, same applies to you!! :)

Okay, I'll try...
First, make sure you have it, then click on it. And also, what windows version are you using? I'm using millenium, so there might be some minor differences in the exact steps.
But, click on "file", then select "new collection". A box will pop up and you type in the title to the "collection". Then select that collection by clicking on it. Next go to "file" (I think, I'd have to open it to be sure), and click on "import", then go to where the folder/pics are that you want to include, and holding down the "control" key, select each one you want to "import" into the "collection" of photos which will be used in the slideshow presentation.
WAIT!!! LOL, first you have to set the time span between each frame/pic. There is a default time frame, which you don't have to do anything, but if you are using a LOT of pics, you can change the amount of seconds between each pic.
For now just import the pics you want, and let them show up in the big window as thumbnails in the windows movie maker window, you'll see.
Once all the pics are there, you can select all of them at once, or just a group at a time, by holding down "control" and click on each pic you want to put in, then right click, while the pics are still highlighted, and just select, "add to timeline", or "add to storyboard".
If you want to include music, it's a little different. I put the song first, import it in wav. file format. Then I click on the song, and select "add to timeline", even though an error message comes up, it still puts it in, and you can see exactly how long the song goes by this bar at the bottom, and then you can see where you have to put pics up to....
Making sense so far? LOL
I'll explain the rest if you decide to do that much, just let me know!!
Love,
Reg

This is an "animated" original Johnny Weir screen cap banner/fan art. It was made in MS Word with an original "Visions Of Chaos" fractal background, and the screen cap imported into Word. The text done using MS Word.
Then imported the whole banner with text into Jasc Animation Shop for "effects":

Loos fab a bit distorted any reason for it?? seems they should better quality... don't get me wrong not knocking it in anyway just curious.. is all, just me being a picky butt lol lol
Sky Blue Hope
11th January 2005, 01:29
The "distortion" is probably the image effects I added to it, like color changing, and "dissolve"....you can see the unanimated version over on RR, just posted it a few minutes ago, less "distorted" I guess. ;)

No lol your way off base probably my fault, know I do signatures for the sig site and I use sparkles, or twinkles whatever you want to call them if you use certain colors the image will not save properly in animation shop they split apart in colorization have no idea why there not saving as in the the window movie maker I have a feeling the slides are to fast that also will have a lot to do with it along with the graphics card they did list some downloads on the site as updates to many cards on the links I sent you, that they recommend you use if your using windows movie maker. check out those links I think that will give you some ideas going to try one tonight just to see I did one last night lol its crashed lol. laterssss

I see a lot of familiar peolple here! Hi Carolyn, Susanne, Pat!
As for the goals, short term : get really good in fractal art! Long term : get a job in which I feel I can contribute in 'things' that matter! I'm bored with being a software engineer!

Hi all!!! Having fun around here!
You know the strangest thing is going on with the smilies! This thread seems to be the only one in which I cannot use smilies! I've tried other threads, type messages, insert smilies and preview the message and all is well! Just a few minutes ago I posted a message in the 'post and share your animations' thread, used smilies and that went ok! But if I use them in this thread, it says 'error on page', 'theform.message is empty or not an object' !!
Veeeeeeeery strange!
Hope you're all allright and having a lovely day!

Regarding not being able to use smilies in this thread only, perhaps that is a question for Rumour or Engel 47, since they know this site better than me...;)
Sorry for the troubles, can't imagine why that would be...:)
