To answer Carolyn:
I do have PSP (Paint Shop Pro 7), I've used it a little in the past, but not too much recently.
I'm SURE I do not know PSP's full "potential" in it's abilities......do you know PSP well? :)

You did mean about learning more about psp7? best thing is to read the help file first to get into the basics course lol I never did once Ron showed me a few things i got started in to it I learned a little animation and a few tricks from a gal in Nova Scotia now she is an actual artist and does it for a living sad part she just lost her husband a few months ago and has 2 or 3 sons all way to young to be without a father. so sad of a story. well I'm off for now need some sleep before an appointment today.. laters all :juggle:

Hi all!!
How do you start making those beautiful animations? I would also like to make some myself!! In my work I use Flash, but that is registered to my boss's company and I cannot use it privately. Are there other programs out there?
Hope you can help!

Hi there, back again! :beerchug:
Have been checking Windows Movie Maker and have already mad a nice movie of some photo's of my lovely cats! That was no problem at all.
But can I also make for example avatars with, like you have here? Yours for example Carolyn, with the text on and of? That sort a things?
Or do I need something else for that. And how do you start something like that. Did you make the picture of the irl yourself, or do you surf around to find free gifs? Or for example the airplane you used Reg?Just don't know how to start off!

Sorry didn't see this one before I commented on the other one wow :lachen001 that is great I've done 2 of them but I think I just need interesting pictures lol. yes you can easily make a signature like mine or like Snow_Angel's in animation shop all you do on the animated frames which mine is 2 frames only just apply the name on one frame which then will give it the animation or flashing all my animations I made myself most are originally wmf files i take and color them get it the way I want it to look then start working on how I want the animation to be it also depends on where the parts you want to animate are at I just take it into psp from animation shop and work with the free style wand easy to do. really take care Carolyn

Hi again Marit!!
Regarding an avatar, you can use any jpg. or gif. image, but the dimensions can not exceed 150 x 150, you'll have do downsize the image you want, and save it as another name (so as not to lose the original size one), and then you go to where it says "user cp", click on that, and then you'll see the browse button, click on that and go to the pic you want, double click on that, then click ok on the bottom, then click ok on bottom again (or whatever it says on the bottom..lol). Sometimes it will give me this error message, but ignore it. Go back to the gallery, click on anyone's art, leave a comment, and see for yourself if the avatar worked or not, that's how I always do it.
You can include a pic in your signature as well, but the pic has to be uploaded someplace else first, unlike your avatar. under "user cp", then select "edit signature", in the box where you type your signature, click on the "insert image" icon in the toolbar above box, enter the url of the pic you want, and then "save changes" on the bottom. The user pic can be slightly larger than the avatar, as you can probably (hopefully) see by my avatar compared to my "signature" pic, hope that helps!!

Reg

Well sorry Reg but I just got told by rumour our avators can only be 100x 100 not larger then 19kb I was told that only the Admin got 150x150 I do know some have them as 50x50 because that was what we got after the so called fixed the problem after the mess up with their payment thing. I told rumour some still had 50x50 and some 150x150 so unless it was just recently fixed please let me know what sizes you have listed for your avator now please not yesterday but today. So far haven't seen a thread for it either. Even though 100x100 is plenty its becoming more of a principal of the thing don't like being told different stories and not from you Reg so don't take this wrong ok lets just fine out for sure getting rather sick of it. laters guys going off for now :auto: Carolyn

Sky! It is a movie maker also, but has different things you can do like Pan and Scan a photo! You can put type onto the images and all kinds of stuff. Just nice to have..I believe you have to have XP for it to work. Patt
yes Patt is right you do have to have xp to use it which xp comes media player 10 sorry,it is okay about the same as movie maker just less complicated and smaller program is about it. :mwahaha: :auto: I'm off for now

Do you have animation shop? if not Microsoft has a couple of program Windows movie maker which is free and also Photo Story but to make gif animations I personally use animation shop there are a lot of others that do all kind of animation most are pay for ... You can also do animations in Poser or Bryce and I believe in Terragen. I believe in Bryce not complete sure on Bryce but actual gif animations Gif Animator is also free there should be links to most of these right here in one of the threads. If you interested.
Also Martas_Art and bigH do a lot of animation may also want to check with them
Good luck if y ou actually want to learn gif's I'm sure we can all get together and help you learn.

Just found this site, and thought I'd share something with everyone. It's an animation I did in Bryce.
No need to download it because I'm hosting it on youtube.com:

The animation itself is almost 90 meg but youtube streams it very well.

Hi .
I have some limited experience with Gif Flash and Window Movie maker for Avatar the Gif format seems to be the best .You can design it for the small size allowed for Avatars.
http://www.commandex.com/websites/martasart/animation.htm
Flash can add sound to a slide show type of show... /what I particularly enjoy /
http://www.damnartists.com/Movies/Birthday%20%20card.2.swf
Movie maker is great for presentations you can add video clips still pictures and sound it can be really entertaining altogether.
example : http://www.damnartists.com/Movies/Untitled_0001.wmv
I will be Glad to help if needed My e-mail is martas_art@hotmail.com

Thanks for the info , I know I do a lot of gif animations and when I have time I use Microsoft Photo Story 3 which is free and Windows movie maker
what I have a hard time with even though its been told many times is sizes to upload gif animation no problem another thing I find with the other two is most do not have windows media 9 or higher to view them. so thats why I personally don't post many......
I've used gif animator its okay I wouldn't mind purchasing one course free ones are always better lol.......
But check out Photo Story 3 Idon't have the link handy but you can find it even off of windows update.

Here is a simple way to make them. I used it to make the one I posted in galleries today.I used a Poser image and then used PhotoImpact to select the eyes and used transparency and hue shift on one then tweened them like this
http://www.mts.net/~nelsrob/tuts/basictweenf.html
Or the actual tut for doing my picture by Maggie McCoo and instructor of animation using Gif Animator at Visual Arts accademy-- I took her course and it is good.
