A PSP 7 problem

I have had PSP 7 for several years and like it very much. I don't do too much with it except with my fractals. Two weeks ago, I noticed that the 'increase color depth' is greyed out so it can't be used. I have tried to uninstall the program and reinstall it, but there is no change. I am wondering if there is some file I may be missing. I'm not too computer savy so would appreciate any help anyone can come up with.

I know that by going into the registry and deleting the JASC folder for paintshop that will clearup lots of problems...also saving the image and reopening will sometimes kick it in the butt and get things working ....
