Hello!

I have noticed that when I upload an animation, Bryce or fractals, that the thumbnails don't come out quite right. I tried looking for an option to use my own thumbnail, didn't see any. I did "edit photo", and then clicked on "rebuild thumbnail", but it just stayed the same.

The last animation I just upload (into the gallery), called "Bryce Animation 2", the thumbnail looks funny. It doesn't look like the actual full size animation, it moves too fast...maybe people will look at the thumbnail and think that's how the actual animation looks and moves, and will not bother to view it.

How can you submit your own thumbnail for the animation uploads? :)

Sincerely,

Regina

PS: I do know that if you upload wmv. files, that there is an option for your own thumbnail, but not the other animation file types.

Unfortunately there is no way to upload your own thumbnails for the sort of animations you are talking about. If it's an animated .gif, the site reads it as an image file, and in fact generates it's own thumbnail for all image files. Sound files and movie type files (.mov, .avi, .wmv etc.) are the exceptions, the sound because it has no image file of its own, and the movie file because it probably can't generate a small enough image file from the many images in the file (at a guess).

The only way using vBulletin to upload your own thumbnail is to have your file in one of these formats.
