RawShooter essentials contains core functionality such as:
Image Priority:
Assignment of priorities to individual or group of images.
Powerful Image Correction Tools:
Slider based sophisticated corrections of noise supression,
colour noise supression and shadow contrast as well as new innovative tools
such as Detail Extraction and Fill Light. Effects of corrections will be
shown on the Dynamic Preview, no matter what the magnification.
Snapshot:
Several variations of the same RAW file,
all with different levels of correction applied.
Slideshow:
Full screen slideshow of RAW images. During the editing process,
individual files can be assigned priorities via the slideshow,
or consigned to the recycle bin.
Multi-threaded Batch processing:
Converts huge Canon EOS 1Ds MKII RAW files in seconds with
images queued for conversion in the background.
Integral Colour Database:
No direct changes are made to RAW files.
Any colour changes made are stored externally from the product.

1. System Requirements:
PC with Intel Pentium III 800 MHz processor or equivalent CPU with SSE technology enabled
Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Home Edition or Windows 2000 (SP4) operating system
512 MB of RAM or more
250 MB free hard drive space
Super VGA 1024 X 768 or higher display with 24 bit colors
CD-ROM drive
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later
Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader (6.0 or later)
Internet access for internet functionality is required for registration and support (access to and use of the internet may require payment of separate fee to an Internet Service Provider)
2. What is new since version 1.0 (released February 20, 2005)
New functionality and improvements:
- Windows 2000 support (Service Pack 3 or 4 recommended)
- Black and white support - turning the saturation slider to -100 will switch to B/W
- Improved highlight rendering and tonal treatments
- Improved color rendering
- A new panel to control default processing parameters is available. The basic rendering appearance can be adjusted according to taste and preferences and will be applied to all existing and new images
- Ability to open RAW files into RSE from remote programs like Windows Explorer and preferred image browsers
- IPTC information (if available in the RAW) is passed over to the output file (TIFF and JPEG)
- Ability to select the location for the proxy/preview cache
- Preference setting to control whether to allow writing of settings to removable media (CF)
- Full interoperability with images stored on read-only media (DVD/CD-ROM)
- Added F8 shortcut key to show/hide correction Panel (works also inside the slideshow) to further optimize the viewing and evaluation experience
- Added Alt+6 shortcut key to show/hide folder view
- Display of the monitor profile being used in the Preferences dialog
- Ability to tab between edit fields in the correction panel (optional)
- Improved thumbnail extraction
plus various cosmetic improvements.

Bugs fixes: General
- Black image output on some AMD Athlon and Pentium III PC’s
- Incorrect color processing when using and building external profiles
- Posterization with some 8 bit TIFF files (Spiky histogram)
- Incorrect calling of external programs with long paths to image files
- Problem with screen resolutions above 1600x1200
- Moving files occasionally cause RSE to crash
- WB cursor icon stuck after releasing the shift key
- RSE always opens maximized instead of last used window size and position
Bug fixes: Camera related
- Incorrect interpretation of Canon EOS 20D Custom white balance
- Incorrect interpretation of Leica Digilux 2 / Panasonic DMC-LC1 White balance
- Some DNG files turn up with large red/blue squares
- Compatibility issue with Panasonic DMC-LC1
- Compatibility issue with Konica-Minolta Dynax / Maxxum D7
- Compatibility issue with Pentax *istDS
- Compatibility issue with Olympus 5060WZ
- Incorrect handing of NEF files changed in Nikon Capture
- Missing EXIF ISO/Exposure info in output converted from NEF files
3. Additional update information
- RSE version 1.1 can be installed over RSE version 1.0
- Due to changes in the internal format of proxy files all proxy/previews files will have to be rebuild. This will happen automatically when folders are opened and require no user intervention. We recommend that the Cache is cleaned up before installing RSE
- Remember to select the As Shot white balance button inside RSE in order to see the effect of bug fixes related to white balance interpretation
