Shouldn't that restriction apply to XD also? You can bring in any background of your choice in that program....also, Fe has that feature as part of the texture option. Just want clarification here.

No flood fill , then how are you going to get water or even an under water scene??? If the 3 items listed then does that mean any other type of post work is allowed and from any other program ornot???

I agree with you Miriah anyone could use any other program if this be the case. Like you I have questions also.

I would try, but I never get picked to win, or even nominated to win anything on here so far.... but good luck to those who do enter.. I don't know how they pick the winners, but if I could vote, I'd be voting for sure!! :p :headbang:
I actually don't care if mine win or not. I just like the idea of creating something within the challenge parameters. It pushes you to think and create in ways that may be outside of your usual style. Please enter these! They are fun, and personally, it gives me the chance to see things I would otherwise miss. I don't get a lot of online time, so the challenge galleries are the first place I go. (o.k., so I'm selfish)
for Sky Blue Hope you can vote ,when the voting starts you must only look in the forums, fractal, poser and bryce all 3 have a challenge, for bryce Robo has just open a new thread where you can vote for the pictures that you like, take a look!!the member who has the most votes win,and all the members can vote for all the challenges!!!!

I agree with you all it doesn't matter if I win or not infact I normally do my worst work in a challenge especially fractals, but the question still remains how can you do a water scene without using a flood filter.
I asked this a few days ago and still no answer. so I guess I won't be entering
Like Reg I feel why enter I surely have no chance of winning not in fractals
I do like the idea of knowing there is a theme however I just don't understand how can it be done, if someone could possibly give an example that might help.
Good luck to everyone entering I won't be, besides most especially in fractals are pretty well determined before hand, so why enter plus 2 different programs?? a water scene good luck guys
carolyn, if you use Fractal Explorer, you can use the texture feature to create an underwater effect.(there are several water textures included) I have no idea how we might do that in Apo, although using the waves variation and zooming in might give something that could be quite cool. Xd is workable, but not without a whole lot of work in one session. You can't save scene files in that program (that I know of) I don't think I'm up to a major XD-a-thon these days. I think any fractal that gives the sense ofor feeling of underwater would be fabulous! Come on, you can do this. You are the veritable queen of Apo, and I know you can come up with something that evokes the feeling of underwater. I've never know you to give up because you couldn't use a filter. ((((((hugs))))))) Here, take my hand, and think outside the box. You can do this, and you can do it beautifully!!!

How about a flame that looks like waves rolling into the shore - or some pretty coral, or anything along those lines...
C'mon Carolyn - I'm way behind yourself in talent, and I'm working on trying to get one happening...
T.
I always have a hard time finding my way around in these Forums..
Let me try and answer this, we can create an illusion of water without resorting to using other means...when you add something extra to an image like flood fill or objects it then become a mixed medium image as opposed to a Fractal Image....it boils down to knowing your program and keep on pushing the buttons....
I am posting something today which I would classify as a Seascape....
I will be happy to try and answer any questions you may have
Hawk
I also agree with Miriah...who cares if they win or lose, it is the challenge that is important...so come on, give it your best shot....I have seen many APO without a flood fill that qualify as great Seascapes...also seen some in Chaosscope....and just about any Fractal program you care to mention....you may surprise yourself :-)

As there was no answer to the XD question does that mean that I could, for example, render a "coral" over a background picture of an underwater scene - as it can all be done in XD? Coz that's all I have come up with so far :D
Sorry I did not get back before....if an image is all created in the same program, then it qualifies.....
Hawk
Let me qualify that...if both the background AND the coral are both created in XD..YES...
