YEAH!!!! The Poser Forum challenge is up and running once more.

So, boot up and get your thinking caps on. The Challenge is "Facial Portrait" - with an emphasis on lighting.

So what we are looking for is basically a portrait - utilising dramatic or subdued lighting - what you do is up to you - Image should contain only one subject - be it human, alien, plant life or animal. If the subject is capable of expression we would like to see an expression on the face, rather than the typical Poser "blank stare".

All images are to be posted to the Poser Challenge Gallery only - You retain all rights to your images, but we ask that the image is not posted anywhere else until after the voting (meaning the image is not to be posted at any internet site other than Innertraveler or any such place that the image can be seen by the public). This is a general forum challenge rule. You can post a maximum of 3 images.

The challenge will run for 2 months (as we discovered 1 month was not long enough) It will finish on the 30th September and we will then allow 2 weeks for voting so the winners will be announced on 14th October. All registered members of the site will be allowed to vote once. The winner of the challenge then sets the theme for the following challenge.

Judging / Voting:

Voting will take place in the forum in a special thread after the challenge closes and will be open to all registered members of Innertraveler.

Only the Voting that appears within the Poser Forum Thread will be valid!

Voting will begin at close of the challenge (30th September) and will be open for 2 weeks closing on 14th October 2004.

Announcement of winners will be in the Poser forum as well as on the challenge gallery page shortly after the voting has closed.

Admin have put up prizes for the challenge which will be $100 for First place, $50 for second place and $30 for third.

Only remains to say....................Good Luck to all who enter.

18th August it has been announced that the deadline has changed - in co-operation with Admin of Innertraveler the deadline has been brought forward to September 15th.

 I have a question about the rules for this please
are there any to do with - image size, postwork and that sort of thing?
thanks

Any sized image that you would load to the "normal" gallery would be fine - postwork is allowed, but the render has to be done in Poser. It would be nice if artists listed what had been done as postwork as well - ie. blurred this, sharpened that - used eye candy for this, or flaming pear for that. Not only would it help us to see how much had been achieved with postwork (as really good postwork is practically undetectable most of the time) it would also help others to try and achieve the same standard or look. I often look at images and think "Good grief, I wonder how he/she DID that!!" Know what I mean? :)

lol. oh gosh... you want the details?! *looks at her work* some are so bad - i have like 5-7 folders in the photoshop workfiles. hmmms. possibly that's why one of the psd file is like 100 mb.

*pokes* i dont think you are ever interested in my work :) they are epitome of females :)

Engel47
5th August 2004, 13:50
course we are interested in your work sweetie - what makes you think we aren't? I do know what you mean about workfiles (and the sizes) - I keep vowing I have to tidy mine up and finish off a few images that have been waiting for "ages" - I will get round to it one day
BTW if you don't want to tell all about about how you do your postwork keep the secret stuff quiet, and just say "well I did this by doing that" and don't go into too much detail (keep 'em guessing) :Oogle_ani

I just received an IM from Chrislenn regarding the image I entered into the IT Poser Challenge. I had previously posted this image on Renderosity and when I saw this contest I felt the image would be a perfect entry. It fit all of the requirments anyways. I had posted it to the main gallery first and then noticed the challenge gallery which is totally new. I removed it and solely placed it here. My understanding of the statement in the rules was ,, it was not to be posted to any other "IT gallery" til after the contest. Did I read this correctly or am I wrong,,, Please let know :sconf:
Thanks to Chrislenn for bringing this to my attention,,
Thanks,
LadyFire_Ice Linda :-)

It says "but we ask that the image is not posted anywhere else until after the voting." This was meant to convey that the image was not to be posted anywhere else - meaning - not posted at any other site. I will rewrite that bit and make it clearer. Thanks for bringing that bit of confusion to my attention :bowl:

My contest entry has been removed as it had been posted to another website prior to the Challenge. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

A Fractal could only be entered if it was generated and rendered in Poser, as this is a Poser challenge. The theme is "Facial Portrait" and we are looking for a portrait that utilises dramatic or subtle lighting. I hope this clears up any confusion.

If the Deadline for the Poser Forum Challenge has been moved up - does this mean the voting and Judging shall be moved up as well?

If so, what are the exact dates to vote and when will the winners be annouced?

Engel47
14th September 2004, 04:30
Barbara - as if you were uploading normally - but select Poser Challenge Gallery rather that any of the other galleries.
@Zauberkuenstler Yes of course the voting is also moved - the challenge ends tomorrow the 15th - the voting will begin on the 16th and voting will be held in a special thread in the poser forum and the voting will remain open for Until the 23rd - therefore the winners will be announced on Friday 24th unless I have been overwhelmed with votes - If a lot of votes have to be counted or recounted for whatever reason then the result may be delayed until the 25th but I shall of course announce any delays. So watch the Forum :)

Do entrants vote for other submissions in the challange or do they vote for their own work?

Probably better if you don't vote for your own work don't you think :) But it is up to you. One vote per member (1st, 2nd and 3rd place images) - it is yours to vote how you see fit.
