FYI.
I'm pretty sure that I'm going to add this new rule in the Fractal Challenge rules
A challenge image is not allowed to be posted to another site when the challenge is in progress.
What are you opinions about that rule ?

Thats great not only at another gallery while the contest is going on but never posted at another gallery as well. I think that is even more fair .
After all I could go back into my folders and pull out any that were posted at another gallery at one time and repost it here? Right??? something to think about Conny...

Oh I don't think it should go that far Carolyn I mean thats almost saying the only place you can put that pic is right here at IT and you can't put it even in your own site or anything. I think just the rule no posting it elsewhere until the challenge is over and done with is enough. And of course if you used the pic in a challenge in another gallery somewhere else maybe you shouldn't use it here but then.. I don't know if its good okay. *shuts up now*

I think once the challenge is over, you should be able to do anything you like with your pic. IT can't own them, lol, they still belong to the artist. heck Carolyn, this is all just for fun. I could see if there was $$$$ involved and the images became the property of the site, but that isn't the case. Why make it more complicated than it needs to be? (o.k., so I had some medical tests run today and I'm cranky..... :crutch: ) ROFL!!!!

How about something like this ?
A challenge image is not allowed to be posted to another site when the challenge is in progress.
And the challange image can not have been posted to another site before the challenge begin.
I'm sorry if the gramma is bad

no way - just because you posted to a another site - you should be able to use that pic here . Like the mate said its for FUN not for money .
I might have posted to a site thats not even here any more . Gone in the wind . What diff. does it make any way - I don't get it .

Actually, I can see asking that the images for a challenge are new...created for that challenge. That's what the whole concept is about. You create something to fit the parameters of the challenge. Using an old image seems to defeat the whole purpose. I don't see anything wrong with limiting the posting of that image to this site while the challenge is going on. It doesn't hurt anything and you can always post it elsewhere when the challenge is over. I honestly can't see anything to get upset over. If the posting restrictions are part of the challenge, either go with it, or don't submit an image. *shrugs* Again, I think we are starting to get upset over nothing. ((((hugs to all)))))

I agree its not worth getting upset over. A challenge is just that, creating something brand new to fit the purpose.
Like the Greece challenge. I did a wonderful pic last year of the muses but Im not using it. Im going to create a whole new one just for this challenge. Why? Because I feel thats the right thing to do. :)

No problem here Conny and to those that are questioning why, well its because at one time I had one featured image of the week at another site and also posted it here for the challenge I didn't at the time realize it would be a problem some felt if my image was being featured it should not be in the challenge even though it was new and did not know it at the time it was be featured else where. so thats how that rule came about. So you can all blame me for it:) Like Wile said that is the reason we're here for new work and doing what this challenge is about. :raincloud

If its new here - then what diff. does it make when it was made .
That like saying you can't post the a monalise because it you made it 100 months ago - if it NEW to US - what diff. does it make ????!!!!!
A challenge is just using what YOU made - not when you made it .

I agree on that BigH but.. most of our best work in the past has been posted to other sites .. so if you made it say 2 years ago and it fits todays theme and it was posted at rosity then and its new here its really old because a lot of people here are rosity peeps to.
I don't care one way or another whether a pic is new or old if you want to post it. Maybe an old pic you did that fits a challenge that hasn't been posted somewhere other than your own site.
I'll accept any rule changes leaving that up to the forum boss :D

I think the purpose is to go more site wide challenge rules is all.
I certainly see no reason to be upset over it. After all its for fun isn't it and seeing what others post, sharing idea's sort of speak. Don't quote me on this one but I do believe most sites are set up this way. not sure so don't get upset. Frankly this is the only place I post in any challenge.
go with the flow guys... chill and go with the new rules no biggy:)

How about making it simple:
An image that has been entered for the challenge has to:
A) Be a new image - designed especially for the challenge
B) The image cannot be posted to any other site (that is, where it can be viewed by the public) until the voting at IT is over.
And if any image is then PROVED beyond doubt to be breaking these simple rules, it is removed from the challenge.

It does make a difference - as has already been said - the point of setting a theme is to get people to bend their boundaries a bit, and come up with something new something they may not have tried before. Not to go through their folders of old work that they did months ago to find an old image that has been posted elsewhere and just happens to fit the theme - whats the fun in that?
Also if it was posted elsewhere prior to the challenge, you already "tested the water" as it were, with that image, and know if it is considered as good, bad, or indifferent, by the comments you already got on it.
The whole idea of the challenge is FUN, to hopefully learn something new, and to share what you then learned!!!!

As classylady rightly said these rules will not be for the fractal challenge alone, they are being set as site wide challenge rules, regardless of forum. They will be (hopefully) included in the next newsletter. The rule of not posting to any other site whilst the challenge is in progress is already in place in the Poser forum challenges, and has been for many months.
