If anyone has any good suggestions or hints in adding your hand art to other programs such as TG or Bryce... perhaps we should open a thread or add your thoughts here... I know I've just begun to do that as I hate drawing backgrounds unless I have to :)

I don't really do hand art anymore.. And even if I did I don'thave a scanner to get it into my computer. As for painting on a program like painter, without a wacom pad I am a lousey painter with a mouse. So hand work for me is pretty much out. I have no suggestions.

I do detail things by hand (like windmills, fences, grasses and plants) to add in PSP, and getting them resized after scanning is a real problem. Can you actually get something like this into Terragen or Bryce directly? ( I make tubes for them in PSP and use them that way) I would give my eye teeth for a wacom pad!!!! Mouse work is not very exacting....probably because the little critter is more interested in scuttering around munching the crumbs on the pad. *giggles*

Not sure if you can do it other than using as tubes or brushes from PSP, which I've done. I know how to remove the background from an image... takes a bit of patience but can be done, then resizing it and putting it into a tg image. That's how I did the picture called battle. The two ponies were hand drawn, the background removed and added to Terragen and a tiny bit of postwork to blend them in.

Besides drawing... shrubbery or trees or any greenery then adding in, right now there is no other way to add to Terragen besides using tubes.. And sometimes those look odd unless they are carefully blended.

I dream nightly of a wacom it would save me a whole lot of steps but then too it would cause me to neglect I'm sure my sketching.. LOL. Truely have it on my wish list which I've given to both my children... hopefully christmas this year... one can dream...

The only way I can figure out to put them in any other picture is the way I did with the 'battle' pic. Of course as TG is the only other program I've gotten and the others are cost prohibitive at the moment I would have to find an outstanding terrain for the fae to be added. Still trying to find the right settings for an underwater pic. The vision is in the head, now to find the right settings.

So I'll have to wait to hit the lottery or some lovely soul will gift me with a Wacom... even a small one would be wonderful... LOL....

I must admit that I'm one of the fortunate ones who has a Wacom Intuos 3. These are VERY expensive, but so, so worth it, as it is just like working with an art pencil, and inside Painter, it also emulates actual brush effects (which ever way you have the pen tilted affects the width and length of the stroke). It is so sensitive that it can be used upright or tilted, as you do with a pencil.

It might be worth looking on eBay to see if anyone is selling one cheap! This does happen from time to time.

The other Wacom (again to look for on eBay perhaps) is the Graphire 3 range. However, these are not anything like the Intuos range, and can be used only in an upright position. They are not as sensitive. However, I got by with one for long enough..
